"If I could give David and his crew a 10 I would. Provided estimate quickly with fair pricing. Work preformed was done with great care and he wants to make sure the project is exactly how you want it. Excellent work and very personable to work with. Communicated well throughout two projects that we had them complete. Overall - excellent work!!!!"

"Dereck and his team were timely. They removed two large trees and hauled off the limbs. Next, they tore out a rock driveway and spread that rock on the side of our home as requested. Next, they poured a new, perfectly sloped concrete driveway using a rebar. Again, it was all quite timely and better priced than other bids. Thank You!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

Many asphalt companies have experience with tar and chip paving, but not all. The process is unique enough—and not incredibly common enough—that you may have to look around for a tar and chip specialist. However, speaking with a driveway company is a great place to start, especially if they have experience with multiple materials.

Concrete is typically the best material for a driveway if you’re looking for longevity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance. But, it’s not ideal for areas with annual freeze-frost cycles, nor is it the most attractive option—although you can get it stamped or painted. If your location is consistently below freezing, asphalt may be a better choice.
