"They knew what they were doing. Only suggestion would have been if the covered the area under the ceiling install better with a drop cloth to catch debris for easier cleanup. Price was a bit high but quality is what your paying for anyways."

"Kyle, the owner of Canyon Electric, was recommended to us as a trustworthy electrician in the Black Hills area. We had purchased a vacation home in Lead and were having a hot tub and sauna installed. We needed to add 2 240 amp breakers, a new breaker box, and hard wiring both units. We are from across the state and had a deadline for the hot tub installation, which required all wiring done very specifically and in place. Kyle was out at our home wiring and prepping before we even arrived. He was in contact with our hot tub retailer and made sure everything was done perfectly. The wiring on both units was done efficiently. He even did work on one of our bathroom exhaust fans and had it going in quick order. Kyle was a very pleasant person to deal with and we were very impressed with the high standards of his work. We would highly recommend Canyon Electric for any and all of your electrical needs."

So glad you have considered ROC Electric. We are a locally, family and Veteran owned company. We have started our business in June of 2021 and are excited to serve our wonderful community in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. We are licensed and insured. A small list of items that we serve is small electrical repair such as, outlet replacement switch replacement lighting fixture install and so on. What we do not do is appliance repair. A good way think of it is; if you have an appliance we are responsible for getting electrical from the panel to the appliance, outlets, or lighting. We also do remodel wiring, new home wiring, generator install, and many other applications.

"The furnace took 4 days to get approved( not counting a Sunday) the others were quick but the water heater had to be ordered so without hot water for a week. One ceiling fan was easy but within a year their policy changed and They would not install the one I purchased and had to get a new one approved and then ordered online and took several weeks to get straightened out. Not sure who was at fault, AHS, installer or scheduling with renter. Fee is usually $75 per visit"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.
