Hardy's owner Chad Leddy grew up in Watertown SD and has been contracting for over 10 years. As the industry has grown so has Chad and his staff. Polymer coatings are very durable and cost efficient but take a lot of knowledge and experience to use them and apply them correctly. Through the years we have continued to educate ourselves and have been certified in many manufactures products and application techniques. When you install laminate flooring, you have to install spacers (also called expansion gaps) along the edges. This space along the edges gives the flooring the room it needs to naturally expand and contract. When you don't have an expansion gap, you can end up with damaged or warped planks. This can lead to uneven flooring, which is unsightly and can cause a trip hazard.

It takes about one to two days to remove carpet and install laminate flooring for small and medium-sized rooms. A larger room may take an extra day to complete. If you’re replacing flooring throughout your house, expect closer to one to two weeks, depending on your home’s square footage.

A good subfloor can last 30 years or even longer, depending on the material. OSB should last a bit longer than plywood. However, OSB isn’t the best option for heavy flooring types like ceramic tile or stone. It’s also worth noting that regular moisture exposure will drastically reduce any subfloor's life span.

It’s possible to reuse household materials to cover floors, but they won’t provide the same level of protection as dedicated materials.
