Small jobs welcome

"Custom curbs did an incredible job with the curbing and mulch project for our new home. They used quality materials, were flexible in their work hours and communicated consistently throughout the project. They re friendly, approachable and do great work. One thing we really liked about dealing with Justin and his team, was that they offered suggestions and ideas on what would look best, while still incorporating our vision for the design. This set them apart. After all they re the professionals and have a better and more experienced idea of what would look best. Highly recommend."

"The Pro Nick got the job done right, efficiently, and with top notch quality. He worked had on the hottest first day of summer since 1910. The cost was a real bargain - much cheaper than expected. He laid extra line through very rocky soil where ditch digging was extremely challenging. He removed and replaced two sprinklers that were very difficult to get to. He very patiently monitored each sprinkler head to make sure our lawn was entirely covered. Lancelot Landscaping are our go to guys for all our future irrigation needs."

"Micah is an excellent on task contractor, always on time and productive. He's very quick at resolving any possible material or project changes. We've found Micah to be very reliable, trustworthy and honest to work with. He's been a real pleasure in a time when you're lucky to even get a phone call back from a contractor. Would most certainly hire him again!"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

To ensure you hire a reliable and experienced paving company, you should start by finding companies in your area that have at least five to ten years of experience working in your neighborhood. Next, rule out companies with poor reviews online or a series of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Since driveways affect your curb appeal, you should also ask each company for references and pictures of recent work to make sure the work the company does is professional and high quality. Finally, check that the company is licensed and insured.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

Paver driveways are durable and aesthetically pleasing, but they do have a few cons. For instance, paver driveways are often more expensive than asphalt and concrete driveways. They also make it easier for weeds to grow where the separate pavers meet up. They may also be more likely to settle over time.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

Yes, you can put thin pavers over a concrete driveway. However, it's always best to talk to a driveway installer before starting. You'll need to ensure that the concrete below is in good enough shape to hold the pavers and that the driveway will still meet local building codes.
