"It went great! Jerry diagnosed the problem right away. When the roof was reshingled 10 years ago, there was a portion of the roof where the roofers used too much pressure with the nail gun. This portion started to leak. Jerry recommended we just replace this one portion and his roofers could blend it all together. They came and did the work and now it's fixed! In fact, they showed me the rusty nails they pulled from this portion of the roof. The original company I used is no longer in business. I am so glad that Jerry could repair this without me having to replace the whole roof!"

"I am extremely pleased with how everything turned out!  I miscalculated and had to get more paint, and by virtue of that alone, it would mean differing shades, but you can't tell.  Yakosta kept in contact with me constantly from the onset.  When I provided dates I was free to have this done, I was immediately on their schedule.   I had a few things I wanted accomplished, so I sent specs and they determined what work could be done in the eight hours of labor I purchased through a Big Deal.  The trim lines are sharp, what couldn't be moved out of the room was covered and protected as was the carpet.  I dare say the room was left cleaner than when the work began.  Any holes (due to pictures) that I was not going to reuse were patched.  I even have standards up for free shelves and those were taken down and put back once the wall was dry.
I used a specialty chalk board paint and had to wait a week to try it .  The results are fantastic- well worth having a someone with far more skill and knowledge.  I was given suggestions too as to what would work better for the room (part of the ceiling was sloped).  The room is a home office, so having freedom and being able to utilize the walls in differing ways is helpful.  I will have to so something different for the ceiling than I imagined, but I wholeheartedly agree that leaving it be worked out better.
It's refreshing to have a company follow-up, touch base leading up to the job, and to ensure I was happy with the outcome.  I am so pleased that Brothers Contractor will be among the first people I contact in the future should other endeavors crop up.  Not only that, but I have no problems recommending them.
If you go to their website, the photos of the green room were this job (which will hopefully be up soon, as I owe them an after picture once everything was put back in the room and on the walls).

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Durable materials suited for climate include aluminum for coastal areas or composite wood in varying environments for durability and minimal upkeep.

To ensure the installation process goes smoothly, it's wise to ask a potential pro several questions. Key topics to cover include:

  • Licensing and Insurance: Do you have a professional license and insurance to perform this work? This is crucial as installing an awning into a home's exterior can be a complex job.

  • Cost Estimate: What was the price of similar jobs you've completed? Awning installation costs can vary based on size, design, and location, so this helps establish a general price range.

  • Project Timeline: How long will this project take to complete? Getting an estimated timeline provides peace of mind, even though unforeseen hurdles can occur.

  • Building Permits: Will I need a building permit for this project, and who is responsible for obtaining it? An experienced local contractor will be knowledgeable about local rules and regulations.

  • References and Portfolio: Do you have references from previous clients or photos of completed projects? Speaking with past clients and seeing previous work can give you insight into their experience and the quality of their work.

On average, awning costs range from $1,400 to $4,400. The low end of the cost range can be around $100 up to $7,500 on the high end. Cost factors include the type of awning, size, and location. Portable awnings are the most affordable and DIY-friendly to install, costing $100 to $400. Larger, motorized awnings tend to be more solidly built, ranging in price from $2,000 to $3,500.

It’s best to keep your awning retracted if winds are 25 miles per hour or more to make sure your awning doesn’t sustain irreparable damage due to wind. Some awnings can take winds up to 30 miles per hour without any damage, but it’s best to consult the manufacturer’s guidance. A good rule of thumb is if it’s too windy for you to comfortably stand outside, it’s time to bring the awning in.

Metal awnings last much longer than fabric thanks to their durability and resistance to fading, sun damage, and damage from the outside elements. They also need less maintenance than fabric options. Both items add curb appeal to your home, but you shouldn't expect either type of awning to add property value to your home.
