"I had 20 years of lent built up and a 12 foot run that came out in my roof. The technicians we're on time and did an excellent job. They kept me in the loop every step of the way. They vacuumed and cleaned my laundry room, the roof, and my driveway. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dryer vent clean out."

"Vent Man cleaned out my dryer vents. I did not realize this was something I needed. I thought just cleaning the vent filter was all I needed to do when I dried my clothes. Boy was I wrong, he came and cleaned the vent hose and all the tubing to the outside and it was really nasty. My dryer works so much better now."

"We had Nick and Isaac perform a dryer vent duct cleaning and inspection of our home’s air ducts for cleanliness. After the inspection was done, they recommended a sanitation of the ducts and their work was extremely professional and quick! They were upfront about pricing and very reasonable. We cannot thank them enough for the great work they performed."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Dryer vent cleaning costs around $150 on average, and most homeowners pay between $75 and $350 for the service. There are a few factors that affect your pricing, including the following:

  • Length of the dryer vent

  • Whether the vent is rigid or flexible

  • Accessibility of your dryer vent

  • Amount of lint needed to remove from the vent

According to the Department of Energy, around 15,000 house fires are started every year from clogged dryer vents. It might seem expensive, but dryer vent cleaning can help you avoid severe house fires, injury, and even death.

It’s possible to clean your dryer vent yourself in most cases, but it’s usually best to leave this important task to a professional. If you make a mistake when reinstalling the vent, you could kink it, which makes it easier for a blockage to form. Instead, call in a professional annually to do a thorough cleaning and an inspection. They will make sure there are no kinks in the vent that could promote blockages in addition to cleaning it. If your vent runs through a wall, you’ll need help from a professional regardless.

Condensation in your dryer can create a dangerous situation. It can cause lint to clog up the venting components of the system. If you have a gas-powered dryer, excessive lint buildup can create the potential for carbon dioxide buildup within your home. Clogged vent systems can also be a severe fire hazard.

You’ll find the backdraft damper near the top of the range hood (where it connects to the ductwork). However, some range hoods also have a second damper, which is located close to the roof or exterior wall where the ductwork ends. If you don’t see a damper in either of these places, you might not have one.

You have two different types of air vents in your home: supply and return air vents. Your supply air vents are responsible for pushing air into your home. Meanwhile, return air vents draw warmer air back into the ductwork to condition it by removing the warm molecules from it. Both types of vents are necessary to a working HVAC system and a comfortable home.
