He was very kind and caring about our situation (stopped working at 7pm one night so that the kids could go to bed since what he was doing was making quite a bit of noise). He made sure things were cleaned up when finished. I was very thankful of how he was walking us through the process of what he was doing to the pipe. "I have nothing but positive things to say about Burnley Sanitary Sewer & Drain. I first called at 12 pm and Tony (the owner) answered the phone. He explained the ins and outs of the sewer system in addition he let me know what to look out for if I decided to let someone else pump the sewer tank. After getting off of the phone with him, I felt more confident in making a decision. I call another company and they actually priced me a little cheaper price however I decided not to go with them and go with my gut feeling. I called Burnley Sanitary Sewer & Drain back at 1 pm and spoke with his wife (Susan). After some small chat and laughter, she scheduled an appointment for me and contacted one of their crews that was on another job. Within 30 minutes, I received a call to let me know they were on the way. The crew members were awesome after all they were "Devil Dogs" and we had stories to talk about. By 3:30 pm, the gunked up sewer tank had been pumped and I was back at work. I could not ask for a better experience or quicker turnaround about something I had no clue about. I would strongly recommend giving Burnley Sanitary Sewer & Drain a call."

Roto-Rooter does not charge by the hour, so the quote you get after your in-person consultation should cover the whole project. This includes the time it takes a technician to get to your house and the time it takes to complete the job. For context, a plumber will charge anywhere from $45 to $200 per hour, but you may also pay a service fee or flat fee. 

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

In most cases, drain cleaners will not clear a clogged sewer line, and they’re likely to damage your plumbing. Sewer lines are several inches wide, meaning any material that clogs it will need to be large. Drain cleaner can work on small clogs, but it usually won’t clear a larger one in a sewer main. Drain cleaners can also easily damage and corrode your plumbing with prolonged contact, and a clog will keep the cleaner in contact with the pipes for an extended period. Hire a professional sewer cleaner instead for a safe fix.

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

Ejector pumps can only push sewage 750 feet or less. That’s because their purpose is to move waste from your home to your sewer line—which is a relatively short distance. Grinder pumps can transport sewage further, but they manage lower volumes of waste than ejector pumps (and they don’t work with septic systems).
