"The top four concerns (there are more) are: Estimating, scheduling, managing and billing. If you are OK with not knowing where you are financially at any point in your build, not knowing what the build is actually going to cost, inability to keep to a schedule and having to triple check your bills for double billing or paying bills that are your builder?s fault then go ahead and sign. Apparently his remodeling gets better reviews than his home building. I am with Philip Young ? ?This was the worst builder I have ever had the displeasure to work with.? We wanted our house build to be done as well as our last one. Boy we chose poorly. I had my concerns right from the start but I did not listen to them. That is on me. Do not make the same mistake, find out about his reputation. I didn?t but every time I speak with someone regarding my builder, they giggle and wonder how he got the business. "We had SouthPoint out for an evaluation of the roof after a home inspector had found a "small leak" in the roof. Seems SouthPoint misjudged by just "a hair." After a general contractor pointed out what they had missed it was obvious the gentleman from SouthPoint knew little about roofing. This was verified when they started to repair the "small leak." There was no flashing, just decorative trim that had been placed by Carolina Signature Homes, when the house was built in 2007. The headers were rotted out and one has to be totally replaced. This was a major design flaw. The man from SouthPoint was given free reign to evaluate the roof, both from the inside and the outside of the home. We weren't interested in just fixing the leak. We were about to close on the house and wanted the best roof we could get. They even said the gutters need cleaning. We had to have them come back again to even do that correctly. The owner would not stand behind his bid. He said the added damage was "outside the scope of the bid." It would never have been "outside the scope" of their work if the estimator knew what he was doing. As someone new to the community I was hesitant to post such a negative review but this is negligence and if I can spare one person from hiring this company then it is worth it."
