"I couldn't be happier with the work Bob did on my deck! From start to finish, the process was seamless—he was professional, reliable, and truly skilled. The deck looks absolutely amazing, with attention to every detail. He also kept the area clean and worked efficiently without cutting corners. If you're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and delivers outstanding results, I highly recommend Handyman Bob!!"

"Last summer someone struck the front of my house with their vehicle, the damage was EXTENSIVE! We hired Barr Woodworks to replace our porch/deck! Mr. Barr quickly gave us a fair estimate and was able to get started on the job right away! Not only was the price very affordable and competitive (compared to other quotes) but he did an amazing job and finished three days ahead of schedule! I would absolutely hire them again!!!"

"Excellent painters! Hardworking, conscientious, strong work ethic and committed to excellence in their work. They all say they love their jobs, and it shows. Everyday they packed and cleaned up and you would never known they were there. They did a beautiful paint job on my house. They pay close attention to detail. I couldn't be more pleased, and I'm particular. I'm hiring them to paint the interior. I'm one of three houses on my street in a month's time that have hired this team; news of good work travels fast. There was a team of four painters who painted the trim and siding on my brick house in three days. I recently inherited the house and some of the paint was badly peeling, and it needed a lot of prep work. These painters left nothing undone. Besides doing a great job, these painters are all really nice people. A+"

"Beds & Such is fantastic. We have furniture we bought from them. They were great about bringing in, setting it up. I'd give them 5 stars. They were honest. They were courteous. They were the nicest people of all the places I went in Lexington and Columbia, South Carolina local furniture. These people were the most helpful, honest, pleasant people to work with. That's why I had all the furniture from them because everywhere else I went in the area is just they were rude."

"Our home has been transformed! We are so excited about the new cabinets, new granite counters, a beautiful front porch, a new back deck, new floors, new windows, new paint, and did I mention granite counters :) A dream come true for our family and I respect someone who is willing to help someone save money instead of over charging them."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Labor plays a significant role in the installation of butcher block countertops. Depending on who you hire, your location, the customization level of the project, and whether the wood is already finished, you may pay a professional between $10 and $150 per square foot to install a butcher block countertop. On average, expect the per-hour price to run between $60 and $100.

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.

If you’re just replacing a few broken or damaged joists, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $300 per joist. However, a complete installation for a home or room will take into account the cost of labor, which ranges from $25 to $40 per hour. Floor joist installation for an entire room, for example, can cost between $5,000 and $10,000, depending on the room's size and the materials used.
