"Mount Valley is the epitomy of an honest, fair, reliable, efficient, professional, and customer service oriented company. Our coordinator, Ryan McAlister, was extremely knowledgeable and informative during inspection of our crawl space water issues, and his subsequent repair recommendations. Ryan was like a professor explaining retrofitting encapsulation of the crawl space and basement water issues with a slab, along with discussing such encapsulation during a new build vs. standard floor insulation in a crawl space in a climate above 60% humidity. Fascinating and educational discussion for me as an homeowner with very limited knowledge of the subject. Ryan was patient and is truly an expert. He also provided additional advice on other ground water issues and recommendations for us as homeowners to try, outside the crawl space, in order to save us money. His crew was extraordinarily hard working and diligent, personable and friendly. They did a great job in every detail relative to trench digging, gravel, wrapping, wall insulation, sump pump, dehumidifier, and drainage. Very well done and much appreciated professionalism and expertise. Very impressed with the coordinated team work demonstrated by the whole crew, Damian (foreman), Mac, and David. Very impressive young men. My wife wanted to adopt them and Ryan upon completion of the project, which was done in grueling heat, humidity, and wet conditions. Job well done. Great company. "Woke up Friday morning with no hot water. Called Hill Plumbing Co and they were able send a technician before lunch. The technician was polite and even wore shoe covers over his boots. He said he could change out the elements but would would recommend changing the water heater due the water heater was over 20years old and was showing signs of rust along the bottom of the tank. By 2:00 pm I had hot water with my new water heater. The technician was very knowledgeable and truly appreciate his recommendation because when he removed my old water heater the bottom was covered in rust. To top it off he discounted me 10% because my wife teaches at Alice Drive Elementary.

"We found Cantey Foundations to be the solution to our sagging floors and cracking walls - even after speaking with some of the other popular alternatives. Our team, consisting of Dallas, Corey, David, Dallas and Alex((2 Dallases),were professional, knowledgeable, polite and efficient. Not only did we see a definite change in the sloping floors, but the cracks closed up and doors stopped sticking. When the crew was done, they cleaned up everything. Although it is only a week since the work, we do not have any concerns because of Cantey's warranty, which guarantees the work for 25 years. We were able to put off other recommended work for a later date, and plan to take advantage of that when our pocketbook allows. I will have no problem calling them back."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can enclose your crawl space. Enclosing your crawl space can promote energy efficiency and reduce the risks of pests and mold by limiting factors like humidity. It can also reduce heat loss, which is why doing so for the winter can make your home more comfortable.

Waterproofing or encapsulating protects against moisture, preventing mold growth and structural damage. These services also enhance energy efficiency and improve air quality by keeping humidity levels in check.

There are several small, inexpensive upgrades you can make to upgrade your basement. Although you still need to adhere to building codes and obtain permits when necessary, you can complete small but mighty tasks like painting the masonry walls and installing entertainment devices to make the space more usable.

The first step to preventing foundation cracks is to repair any current ones. When one crack forms, it becomes more likely that a second crack will follow. A few other tips include performing regular foundation checks, cleaning spouts and gutters, and installing exterior drains if needed. For those living in a hot and arid area, you should water your foundation every other day.

Some basement waterproofing methods can actually cause your water or moisture problems to get worse, which is why it’s so important to call in a professional who knows how to solve your underlying issue and use the appropriate waterproofing methods. An example of this would be applying latex waterproofing paint to the insides of your basement walls without fixing the water issue outside. Doing so can trap moisture in the basement walls, which can promote mold growth, peeling paint, and even damaged concrete. However, when done by a professional, the only downside to basement waterproofing is the up-front cost.
