"We needed carpet replaced in a living room. Carpet selection was very convenient at our house with Rob's assistance. It was helpful to see the samples on site. The installers arrived on time and were efficient and provided a very good installation. We are very pleased with the quality of the carpet and installation. Customer service was excellent at every stage. Price is competitive and was lower than a big box store for comparable carpet."

"I went with this company based on discussions with neighbors. My last carpet install was by one of the big box stores and I wasn't happy with the install or installers although the price was better. Christinia at the store was knowledgeable about ther product and was pleasant to deal with. The issues I had were with the installation. The quality of the installation was not what I was hoping for and in fact was below the quality of the big box install.
Some of my issues with the insatll are; there are visable seams, the installers did not have a working vacuum to clean up the dust and debris so they tried to sweep it with a broom, the taping of the seams in padding.
I made my selections of padding and carpet based on the fact that this house is a rental house. I selected a moisture resistant pad so the padding might not be soaked with moisture from steam cleaning and or pets. I discovered the old padding was also moisture resistand and the seams were carefully taped with duct tape and seemed very moisture proof and were of a high quality. The carpet wholesaler installers used a paper masking type of tape which did not seem moisture proof and did not seem to stick to the padding very well. It was pretty obvious because I kept the old moisture proof padding in two of the rooms so the quality of the new install was easy to compare as the old and new were side by side. I mainly purchased the more expensive padding based on Christinia's information about moisture resistance. I don't think that was a good choice based on the type of tape used as I believe any moisture will quickly find its way into the padding through the seams.
The company promises to remove and haul away the old carpet and padding. The reality is if the carpet is pet stained and smelly they won't haul it away. They will haul it to the road with some very firm prodding. I understand this policy the carpet installers don't want a smelly van when they haul the new carpet to the house. I just wish I had know that before hand. They left the stained carpet and padding in the garage and when they were leaving they didn't want to take it to the curb. I had to insist that they haul it to the curb. In the end I said I would help them and the three of us carried carpet to the curb.
I believe the quality of the install would have been worse if I was not present watching what was done. Of course it does look better than what was there. The installers did there best. It seems like a grueling job and I understand they didn't want to haul anymore carpet than they had to on a hot 90 degree day. There may be a reason why they don't use the standard silver duct for padding seems but they should as it seemed to be effective based on looking at he existing padding from ten years ago.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

When choosing whether to install carpet in your home, consider the pros and cons of this change:

Pros

  • More affordable than laminate flooring

  • Gives the room a warmer feel

  • Softer on feet

  • Wide variety of textures and colors

  • Hides dirt easily

  • Faster and easier to install

Cons

  • Shows wear and tear more quickly than laminate flooring

  • Shows stains

  • Soaks up liquids

  • May not work well in some areas, such as a bathroom

  • Less durable than laminate flooring

  • Susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew

Yes, installing laminate over carpet could negatively affect the resale value of your home. It’s no surprise that homebuyers prefer flooring that someone has installed according to industry standards. Laminate over carpet may raise concerns about the quality and stability of the flooring, impacting the overall perceived value of the property.

Carpets in earthy, neutral shades should go with everything. Specifically, colors like beige, cream, and gray pair well with other neutrals and more vibrant colors. If you’re concerned about your carpet clashing with your walls or furniture, stay away from loud colors and complicated patterns, which could distract from the rest of your decor.

Several types of flooring can be installed over existing tile, provided the current tiles are in good condition. Options include vinyl, vinyl plank, laminate, engineered wood, hardwood, carpet, and cork. Among these, various types of vinyl and engineered wood are the most common choices due to their versatility. Alternatively, you can install new tiles on top of your current ones if you like tile floors but want to update the look. Before proceeding with any new flooring, it's crucial to ensure your existing tiles are not damaged; otherwise, they will need to be removed first.

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
