"After I was locked out of the car, I immediately looked for a locksmith. I consulted with a friend and she recommended Quick Pick Locksmith to me. After I called, Tom arrived 15 minutes later, opened my car, and helped me look for the key in the car. Unfortunately, we couldn't find my key inside the car. I asked Tom if he could make a key for my car, and Tom immediately said yes. The price was so cheap that I asked him to make me two and he did a quick, professional, and courteous job. I will definitely continue to recommend you. Thank you for your enjoyable service."

"I called up the Sears warranty center line and they were very helpful in setting up an appointment for the very next day.  On the day of the appointment the repairman showed up first thing in the morning and called before he arrived.

As a repairperson he made sure to take care of the small things such as, he put on the little blue booties to make sure he didn't leave marks on my floor and he made sure to bring plenty of towels to clean up the melted ice water.  He also didn't mind me watching and asking questions throughout the whole process.  Also, he knew what he was doing and he fixed the problem (so far).  If there are any problems in the future I wouldn't hesitate to call up sears and set up an appointment."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should always change your locks after buying a house. Do so as soon as possible after you move in. Otherwise, you won’t know who has working keys to the property, whether they’re spare keys or otherwise. If an intruder gains access to your house with a key, it may not be covered under your homeowners insurance.

Security experts recommend deadbolt locks as the most secure option for a house's exterior or entry doors. Deadbolts provide the best security because they can prevent most types of forced entry and are harder to lockpick. Common types include the standard single-cylinder deadbolt, which is often found on front doors. For enhanced security, you can opt for a double-cylinder deadbolt, which requires a key to operate from both the inside and the outside.

Yes, as long as it’s thick enough for the deadbolt. Most interior hollow core doors are at least 1 1/2-inches thick, which is usually the minimum requirement for a deadbolt. You’ll want to find the lock block first before installing. Also, most hollow doors require additional reinforcement for locks, such as a reinforcement plate or plywood block.

Yes. Most deadbolts purchased from a home improvement store include a step-by-step installation template that is easy to follow, even for novice DIYers. One of the most important steps for successful deadbolt installation is having the proper tools to start with and carefully measuring prior to any attempts at installation.

If your key breaks in a lock, first remain calm and avoid forcing the broken piece further in. You may be able to remove it yourself if a portion of the key is still protruding from the lock. To aid removal, lubricate the keyhole with a graphite-based spray. Then, try using tools like pliers, tweezers, a bobby pin, or even a jigsaw blade to gently grasp and pull the broken piece out. If these methods don't work, you can't reach the key, or you're concerned about damaging the lock, it's best to call a professional locksmith for assistance.
