"This was an extremely large painting project that began in late March and finished up in Mid-June--nine-plus weeks in length. To go along with such a large project--and large expense--were a bit of nerves too. The church had been completely painted approx. 5 years ago by another contractor and the coating was already failing in a big way. Cyr Painting was highly recommended by one of the church Trustees who had Cyr Painting paint their own home one year earlier and were thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and quality. Cyr's formula to address the deteriorating paint was to completely strip off all old paint and build up a new foundation. A labor-intensive project. To reduce costs, Cyr used a spray-on paint stripper where they could to speed up paint removal. In the end, nearly all of the paint was removed, right down to bare wood. The bare clapboards were then sanded smooth with palm-sanders and the nails reset. A thinned coat of oil-based primer was applied. Next they filled any dents with an exterior wood putty and gave everything a quick sanding again. Wow, it was smooth! Then a full oil-based primer coat went on followed by two coats of a latex stain. A total of four coats of paint went on the church. At some point between coats of paint, they caulked around windows and clapboard ends. One window had some rotten wood along the window sill and vertical trim piece which they replaced and it blended right in. One of Cyr Painting's key assets is their employees. Extremely professional, polite, dedicated with a hint of being characters is a pretty good description. The two foremen or main "characters" are Ernie and Jeff. Two good loud-and-proud guys as well as the other painters on the team. And the owner, John Cyr, was super to work with. Extremely sincere and dedicated to doing the best job. Very mindful of the budget and even took steps towards the end of the project to stay close to the original estimate. With limited resources, the church greatly appreciated John Cyr's diligence in holding to the budget. As he said, his name and his company's name and reputation are on full display. All in all, we're very happy with the painting of our old and traditional New England church. Cyr Painting took the time and effort to ensure the church paint won't fail like the prior paint job. In fact, the New England paint representatives stopped by the church and said they would guarantee the paint due to all the preparations Cyr Painting had done. Do it right the first time and it will last. Highly, highly recommend Cyr Painting. One small reason why?... they even washed the windows, inside and outside before leaving. Not even the church has done that in a while. Jobsite was always clean and tidy too. Fantastic job. The church stands once again a proud and humble servant to the community and our Lord."

With knowledge, experience, and hard work, Gary Gesualdo has spent twenty four years providing designers and trade clients with exceptional workroom services. Located on 306 Main Street in East Greenwich, RI, East Coast Designs’ store front offers products for all residential and commercial spaces. Privately owned and managed by Gary, East Coast Designs sets itself apart by selling the complete Hunter Douglas Line of window treatments, including the Alustra Collection, as well as the economy lines that you will assist your sales to the price conscious client. The Hunter Douglas Collection is not offered online or at large box stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.), and is only sold to certified, local dealers. We at East Coast Designs make a conscious effort to use drop cloths, and take our shoes off in client’s home. Rest assured, we will not put our tools on any furniture so that we do not damage it in any way. We do not solicit to the client, give out phone numbers, or have any advertisement on our vehicles. We are also all licensed and insured. Normal procedure for a project is for you to make initial contact with the client, which includes taking rough field dimensions. Then you must obtain all of the important field information (number of windows, fabric chosen, details concerning the fabric, verification of availability of fabric, and reserving proper yardages of that fabric). East Coast Designs will then prepare a quote (usually takes 1-2 days), and submit it to the proper channels. Upon approval of the quote, a deposit will need to be received to convert this to an order, and a site visit will be scheduled (within 3-5 days) to verify final dimensions, and any final concerns that the designer or client may have. Drapery fabrication takes approximately 5-7 weeks, and shades and blinds take about 3-4 weeks.

Hi, My name is Matthew LaRoche and I have been serving the greater Rhode Island area for 22 years; I am a fully licensed contractor and references are available as needed. All of my projects are completely overseen by myself and I stand behind my work. My company has helped to bring continuity to many of the older homes in our area while still providing contemporary appointments. I would be glad to work on your home as well.

"We had a very special wallpaper project using Bradbury & Bradbury wallpaper, for which we needed a very special installer. This wallpaper is handprinted on paper, and comes untrimmed and unpasted. The design was the classic Victorian "Tripartite" wall: Dado, filling, & frieze. Also included was the full ceiling, in all it's Aesthetic Movement glory. A project like this involves an enormous amount of forethought, planning, cutting, trimming, and pasting. All to very exacting standards, involving hundreds of pieces. All told it was over 70 hours of work for the single room. And the result is glorious. We are certain that the skills required for this type of paper hanging place the installer at the pinnacle of the profession. We interviewed quite a few hangers for the project, very few of which would even touch it. But when we met Michael we saw immediately that he was both intrigued and excited by the challenge. We found him to be very professional, highly skilled, and a pleasure to have in our home. In the end we were a little sad to see him go, but he left us with a room hung to perfection. Fortunately, we still have 5 more rooms to hang, so he'll be back! We are certain that whatever your wallpaper project, Michael is your man. They don't come any better."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Because replacing pool tiles requires fully draining your pool, it’s a great opportunity to complete other projects. You may want to replace your pool’s vinyl liner or repair cracks. You might also replace your swimming pool heater or even take on the cost of resurfacing your pool. Resurfacing, although relatively costly, can help prolong the lifespan of your pool.

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

If you prefer peel-and-stick to traditional wallpaper, you can skip the priming process. Many manufacturers don't require an additional primer if you’re installing peel-and-stick wallpaper to painted walls. However, if you’re applying peel-and-stick wallpaper to unfinished drywall, you’ll need to apply a primer first.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.
