"We had an entry door installed and could not be any happier! They really worked with us to get us exactly what we were looking for. We were really pleased with how quickly we were able to get our door installed as well. The neighbor even complemented on how nice the door looks! Highly recommend Source 4 Window and Door!!"

"Nate is very professional. I wish all service providers were like him. Because Nate lives clear on the other side of the city from me, I took pictures of the projects that needed to be done in order to receive an estimate. Nate got back to me almost immediately with an estimate. After deciding to hire Nate, the job was scheduled with the first day of work to start at 8:30 AM Nate arrived on time and got to work right away and worked through the day only taking breaks to pick up needed supplies and for lunch. The 2nd day of the project was the same. Nate does quality work and doesn't take short cuts. Prior to contacting Nate, I had contacted several others about doing the job. Most of the bids were for less work (such as putting the new vinyl flooring over the top of the old vinyl flooring instead of removing the old flooring first, which is what I wanted) but at a significantly higher cost. For future projects, I will definitely be contacting Nate."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, the thickness of siding is an important factor to consider when replacing it. Siding thickness helps to determine how your home retains and redirects heat. While thicker siding has a premium price, it offers greater strength and durability, stronger insulation, better wind and weather resistance, increased rigidity, and better soundproofing.

While almost nothing is completely fireproof, metal siding is extremely fire-resistant. It’s non-combustible so while it may eventually melt in extreme temperatures, it won’t actually light on fire itself. This can add a layer of safety to structures that wood or vinyl siding can’t, making it attractive for industrial use. Metal siding can significantly slow down the spread of a fire, giving extinguishers and firefighters a much better chance at saving the structure and containing the blaze.

The average cost to install stucco siding on a home is around $5,700, with most homeowners paying between $2,200 and $9,100. However, the total cost can range from $750 to as high as $22,750 depending on several factors. On average, you can expect to pay between $7 and $9 per square foot. Key cost factors include the size and complexity of your home, the desired color and texture, labor and material costs in your area, and whether you have a multi-story home. Specific applications have different costs, such as adding stucco over brick ($7 per square foot) or over wood siding ($8.50 per square foot). To save money, you can consider removing the old siding yourself or scheduling the installation during the off-season.

Composite siding is very resistant to warping that can affect some other sidings. Because of its composition, this siding doesn’t have the same risks of moisture damage that can cause rotting, buckling, and warping. Composite material doesn’t warp in high temperatures the way some kinds of vinyl siding can.

That said, composite siding is not entirely immune from moisture damage. It should still be properly installed so that moisture can properly drain from behind the siding, and protected by eaves and clean gutter so the siding doesn’t get repeatedly soaked by rain, which could lead to damage.

Traditionally, you place a layer of ⅜-inch foam board beneath aluminum siding. This gives you a smooth surface to which you can fasten the trim and siding. Beneath the foam board, you should have some kind of waterproof sheathing to further protect your home from water damage. It’s possible this sheathing is already under your current siding.
