We are a family owned and operated design-build construction company. We specialize in both residential and commercial construction projects- from dreaming about your project with you, to designing it, and seeing it through the construction, we love what we do. Our company exists to create a healthy working environment that promotes reasonable expectations, clear communication, and of course, quality craftsmanship. It is our dream to see transformational change in how people view the construction industry, a foundation built for future generations, and a lasting imprint in the lives of those we come across. At Windle Design & Construction, we want to be a company that you can trust. Not only do we strive to earn your trust, we believe it’s equally important for us honor you and your home/business. We love what we do and we hope that becomes evident through our work. Our goal, in both our personal and professional lives, is that we are authentic and transparent in all that we do. We want to create an atmosphere where YOU feel like you are a part of OUR family.

"Windle completed a kitchen and living room renovation for us. My wife and I are engineers and the entire process, from initial consultation, to design, to construction was smooth and collaborative. Windle’s Project Manager, Ethan, communicated openly and honestly, accommodated and addressed changes on the fly, maintained his attention to detail throughout, and followed through on issues and punch list items quickly. We appreciated the workmanship and we love the results. We have absolutely zero complaints and look forward to working with Windle again in the future."

Judd Builders builds high quality homes with the best materials in the most desirable locations in Pennsylvania. Our award-winning designs reflect the needs of today's buyers. At Judd Builders we pride ourselves on creating the home of your dreams without the work.

"There are numerous issues with construction work being done by Judd Builders for new house being built for me in development. To start with, not fulfilling promise of 150 days for delivering the house after getting permit, missing rain water pipe on roof, missing installation of large windows on side walls in basement, not installing shower head in center in master bath, issue with grading, there are some more, major one and worthwhile to mention here is, issue with stone work on front of the house. Signed the Schedule B document on 08/19/2017 for Bucktown Fieldstone stone with “off white” mortar. When the construction still being done, on June 18, 2018 found that the stone work was done with “gray” mortar. When the issue was reported to Judd Builders, the mistake was accepted as this was an act of workmanship negligence and they offered me a credit for that. But I wanted the stone work redone with “off white” mortar. I was told they will look into it. In hurry, over the weekend of 7th, 8th July 2018, they did something with stone work without my approval and signature as a buyer on “revised work order”. On July 9th, 2018 when I looked at the stone work on front of the house, I was shocked and very disappointed with the sloppy, poor workmanship job. They smeared white cement over exiting gray mortar to hide the existing gray color mortar, it looks horrible. Not sure how and why they have started doing this kind of sloppy, poor workmanship job lacking quality. May be because of new project manager, may be lacking effort put into quality control on construction site. As this house is costing me a fortune, as a buyer I will not accept this house without stone work redone and I want Judd Builders to redo stone work with quality workmanship using off white mortar before closing. In case Judd Builders doesn’t want to redo the stone work, I will not be in a position to accept this house and I demand Judd Builders to return all my money (paid so far to them) with interest back to me."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.

The average build timeline for a home is between six and 12 months, with timelines pushing toward the upper end of that range if you’re creating a custom design or need a lot of land preparation before getting started. Hiring a general contractor or a custom homebuilder will help speed up the process, as you’ll see fewer delays between different parts of the build process getting done.

Typically, architects do not build homes in a hands-on sense of doing the actual framing, roofing, or other building. Architects usually do not have the training and experience to build the homes they design. An architect would need to know how to do the specific trades required to build a house, which is possible but not a common practice. A general contractor or homebuilder typically oversees the actual details of building the house that the architect designs.

Options include traditional mortgages, construction loans, and personal loans. Consult lenders specializing in modular home financing.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.
