"I recently had the pleasure of working with Erik from First State Ponds, and I can't recommend him enough. Erik traveled all the way from Delaware to Maryland to service my pond, which was having persistent issues with murky water. Before connecting with Erik, I had already been advised by another company to purchase a specific filter and pump. Thankfully, I found First State Ponds just in time. Erik took the time to explain that while the recommended filter might clear my water, it would require constant maintenance. He suggested a different filter and a stronger pump, but he was also willing to install the one I had already purchased if I preferred. After some consideration, I decided to take his advice and returned the original filter to have him install his recommended system. After struggling with murky water all summer, l admit, I was a bit skeptical. I wasn't sure that anything would truly work. But Erik's recommendation exceeded even his own predictions. Within just two days, the water was crystal clear! I didn't really think that was possible. There were a few challenges during installation and I admit this was 100% due to a few things I had set up prior to meeting Erik. But he handled them seamlessly, troubleshooting as needed. For the issues that couldn't be addressed that day, Erik provided me with helpful suggestions on how to finish the job myself. While I initially found the price a little high, after seeing the fantastic results, answering my many questions (including a few the following day), and delivering on everything he promised, I can confidently say he earned every cent. If you're looking for quality service, prompt responses, and impressive results, I highly recommend First State Ponds. Erik and his team are truly top-notch."

Cedar Run is enjoying its 41st year of designing, installing and maintaining exciting outdoor living spaces using ecologically sensitive materials and techniques for our customers in Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery counties. We are long time members of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia, and are proud to have received their 2008 Triple Bottom Line Award, in part for our efforts at integrating Rainwater Harvest and re-use systems with permeable paving solutions, rain gardens and constructed wetlands. We have experience in storm water management techniques, and the use of native plantings to enhance water quality and provide wildlife habitat. "I was very happy with the solution Alden came up with. I had spoken to another landscaping company and an engineer, and their solutions were not feasible. Alden's solution was both reasonable to carry out and effective. His solution had three parts: adding soil to change the grade so that water would run away from the house, adding an exterior drain pipe to catch the water and deposit it downhill from my house, and removing a brick flowerbed that was trapping the water so that it would not flow away from my house. The drain pipe was installed at ground level and just empties out onto the hill beneath my house. This was so simple I am surprised this did not occur either to me or anyone else. (I did not mind losing the flowerbed since I am not a gardener and honestly it just added another chore I was glad to be rid of.) Alden also noticed that my outdoor AC unit was about to topple over and added soil to level out the ground beneath the pad on which the AC rested. In general, I found Alden to be experienced in rain and groundwater management, creative in coming up with solutions, professional, and easygoing. His workers were nice and worked efficiently. And I am convinced that this is the best way for most homeowners to effectively waterproof their basement -- using soil grading and ground-level drain pipes to keep rainwater running along the ground away from the house; I think this is more effective and less intrusive than interior water proofing, and that the common method you see of digging to the foot of the foundation and installing the drain pipe there, then backfilling with gravel is unnecessary unless the water problem is that it is actually coming up from below ground rather than that it is running along the ground toward the house."

Pell Tree Company has been caring for trees and our customers since 1993. Our dedicated arborists have cultivated a lifelong love of trees, plants and landscapes. As a result, our clients enjoy the confidence in knowing their trees are in highly qualified and caring hands. Further, our core values extend beyond our daily operations to provide aid to a variety local charitable organizations. We take pride in being ‘the company that cares.” To us this means taking care to do a job properly and in such a way as to promote the health of your trees and shrubs. Care means taking the time to really evaluate your needs and desires so that we can meet and exceed every expectation. Care means having an honest respect for your trees, property, and land. Simply, caring is about treating people and property like you would want to be treated… but it goes even deeper with us. We believe in giving back whenever and wherever we can. We are actively involved in both financial giving as well as volunteering our crews, “Pell’s Angels,” to community and charitable events.

"They did a pretty good job. Removed two trees and also cut the logs into smaller sizes for use as firewood."

Thanks to the overwhelming confidence you have in our company we may be booked out a few weeks. The best landscape company you've never heard of. Just look at our work. We've been creating the finest outdoor landscapes in Bucks County for over 20 years.

"I continue to be very impressed with Schumacher for a number of reasons. We initially hired them for paver resanding/maintenance a year ago. Incredible results. They then did our Fall clean up, and now the Spring landscaping, pruning and planting. The quality of work and attention to detail is second to none. Especially thankful to Lee who coordinates our desires into a working plan. We take pride in our home in which we have invested blood sweat and tears now for 27 years. I do not exaggerate by saying Schumacher has made my wife and I feel they care as much about our home as we do."

"Communication is great, especially when they are still working on the project. Getting them to come back and fix subpar work is like pulling teeth. For the price I recommend going elsewhere. See Phillip H review, it is nearly identical to mine."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

A koi pond may add value to your home if it’s a feature sellers are looking for. Like pools, ponds can affect your property value depending on their condition, whether they’re a popular selling point, and how well they’re incorporated into your home’s landscape.

Installing an outdoor water fountain costs $2,700 on average, not including the cost of the unit. Prices range from $150 to $10,650, depending on your location, the type of fountain, size, and accessibility to the site. Self-contained fountains and water features recirculate the water within the unit. Depending on size and features like multi-tiered cascading bowls, they typically cost from $50 to $5,000. More elaborate fountains with waterfalls and ponds can cost from $450 to $10,000 or more.

Algae growth is a common issue for misters, but you can do several things to prevent it. First, use a sealed water tank with distilled or filtered water to fuel your misters. Second, blow out the misters after every use so no water is left in the tubing. Third, thoroughly clean the misting system every several weeks of use at minimum during the warmest months. Third, wherever possible positioning tubing and the water tank away from direct sunlight and in the coolest areas possible.

Yes, natural pools can get algae since they use the same filtration processes as lakes or streams. However, you can reduce the risk of algae by adding more algae-fighting plants and not installing your natural swimming pool in direct sunlight, as it promotes algae growth.

Frogs may love your yard and want to take up residence for several reasons. Yards can offer a moist environment or access to water. Frogs also eat insects—your yard may offer a steady stream of their preferred diet, such as grasshoppers, crickets, fruit flies, and more.
