"Joe was great. Some necessary add on’s while in process of completing an array of tasks (replace 6 outdoor lamps; install 2 ring door bells & motion spot light, 2 led flood lights; reset indoor fan/light; install new bathroom ceiling fan/light; install new outdoor gfi receptacle; attach swivel tv mount on back porch). Probably missed something, but Joe just moved from one task to another. I highly recommend JC Electric!"

"I hired them to install a bathroom exhaust fan. They got the job right, quickly, and for a lower cost than another contractor quoted. I’d recommend them to others and will look to them for future projects."

"We needed a turnkey solution two 35+ year old bathroom exhaust fans that were dying. Anjali in the main office understood and coordinated with Brad to make it happen. Brad is an excellent communicator who did beautiful work selecting and installing a replacement exhaust / heat fan and switch panel in the master bath. He saved us the expense of the powder room exhaust fan replacement by making a repair instead. Brad Brown Electrics is our new go-to business for future electrical work!"

"John and his team knocked it out of the park! In our family room, it required a decent amount of rewiring as well as "stitching" of the new wires (cutting into the drywall and running the wires), but the absolute least amount of cuts were utilized by them to minimize the damage. Let us be clear - none of this was John and his team's fault: The original wiring scheme left only a single fan fixture to light a room of huge proportions - which was a massive mistake on the house's designers. John and his team negotiated very difficult decisions with ease, and within a day, had installed, rewired, patched, and had up and running four new LED flush mount lights. For the fan and lighting in our master bedroom, they had that done in less than 2 hours, and there wasn't any evidence they had been there after it was installed - not a single speck of dust left!"

"Came in, gave me an honest assessment of the work that needed to be done and gave me options on how I wanted to handle the issues I was having. Got the lights on that were not working and even installed a receiver box into my fan for a great price and super fast. Was knowledgeable and explained all the issues observed to me. I learned a lot in a really short time and am pleased with the work done. Would absolutely hire again and kept contact information to do so."

Small jobs welcome

"I was happy with the process and the work. My technician, Nate was prompt. He took measurements and went to Home Depot. He discovered that my size would have to be ordered. I paid for an hour of his time. I did call after two weeks to check on the progress. It turns out the parts had come in but Mr. Handyman was not notified. The next day, Nate came and installed the new new gable vents. It took an hour and a half to install the three of them. They look great. I was happy and would use Mr Handyman again. I felt the price was fair for the quality work done. It included all parts, labor and time."

"Dave and his guys did a great job, as always. He came out next day. Fixed an outdoor outlet by my pool and installed a Ring flood light and camera for my side yard. Done within an hour at a very reasonable price. Can't recommend them enough."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.

Your bathroom exhaust fan shouldn't be loud. However, bath fans come in a wide variety of models, price points, and loudness characteristics, and yours may be louder or quieter than others you notice. Economy models tend to be the noisiest, with levels of 4.0 sones or more, which is about the sound of an electric shaver, while some high-end models can be barely audible.

A small wobble isn’t worrisome, especially when you’re using your fan at top speed, but a significant one is. Ball joint fans, which are used on sloped ceilings, are more likely to wobble than a standard fan based on their design. But even then, you shouldn’t see significant wobbling, as this can be a sign of a bad installation.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.
