"Very quick response from Alex with onsite estimate for demo/replacement of driveway. Crew showed up the next day @ 0800 hrs & worked in concert to provide me with a beautiful driveway. Kudos for fast, efficient, quality work."
An Asphalt Overlay(Repaving a 2.5 inch layer over existing driveway) is a very efficient and durable solution when done the proper way.
First off we start the preparations by removing the asphalt sections near garage and sidewalks to have a flush finish on completion.
We also remove the grass and dirt in the desired extension area. Once that is done the crushed stone is added.
After the entire driveway is Edged and Clean, we are almost ready to Pave!
Last but not least a pre-fill layer of asphalt is poured on any low or damaged areas to prevent any problems in the future.

"Overall I was quite impressed by Mike and his company. He was quick to respond to my original call, and he worked with me on several options and questions I had for the work to be performed. Mike was friendly, personable, and he and his crew very professional. They showed up when scheduled, the job was completed as expected, and the new driveway looks great! I had gotten quotes from several paving companies. His costs are very competitive."

"Atila was very punctured and kept the communication about job process and problems/issues/how they were resolved throughout the entire process. I was very much appreciated that he had taken responsibility for all the issues encountered through the job and took immediate actions to try to resolve it. When i asked him for a favor to take the removed dirt to fill up another part of the yard to even them out, he gladly did the job with no additional cost. The concrete paving was done to perfection. Atila is very pleasant to talk with, good humor, responsible. take care of his customer, a very good constructor. I am glad i pick Artisan Concrete for my paving job."

"They did a great job on the roof at a reasonable price in comparison to the other quotes I received from other big name companies. Roof was a 20 year old and need an update. Appreciate, the straight to the point sales pitch. Constant communication throughout the process. Happy with the job thus far. Will continue to monitor for any issues."

Small jobs welcome

"The gentleman from J&R concrete were very professional and respectful. They went over all aspects of the work they would be doing and answered all my questions. My original project was for backyard steps only. I asked if they would give me a separate estimate to also do the backyard. Their estimate was very professionally done and complete and affordable. I asked for pictures of work they had previously done. After seeing their work I was sold. Once the work was started it took 3 days to complete. They arrived each day promptly at 8:30 AM. After the work was done they hauled away all debris and left the work area spotless. Their method of making payment for the work was very easy and convenient. I would highly recommend J&R contractors to anyone looking for a top notch contractor."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.

Like all driveway materials, asphalt can crack in the wrong conditions and with age. Many things can cause asphalt to crack, including shifting soil or settling under the foundation. Other common causes are driving oversized vehicles on the asphalt, tree roots, and using rock salt during the snowy season. Proper installation and sealing the driveway every 10 years can help prevent cracks.

The cost to replace a driveway ranges from $8 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors that include material, size, and labor. If your driveway has deep cracks, potholes, or drainage issues (or if it’s simply past its prime), replacement might be the smarter investment over constant repairs. Resurfacing can be a cheaper alternative at $3 to $20 per square foot, but it won’t fix your driveway’s underlying problems.
