"Matt, installed a backup generator on a pad made of rocks and 4 x 6 pressure treated wood that looks amazing!!! Tons of wiring and digging, in other words he sold me the total solution! He also installed a lightning rod and surge breaker inside my breaker box. While he was in there I had him replace all my breakers (circa 2001). All the bedroom breakers were upgraded to Arc Fault breakers. One could not be reset so he had to trouble shoot all the outlets until he found the one where neutral and ground were touching! Only Arc Fault breakers and Matt can detect this problem. You need to read up on the technology. I had him replace all the wired in smoke alarms original to the house (2001) and add an addition one next to the furnace. Matt understands all the electrical codes. My house will be 2017 federal electrical code when Pennsylvania just adopted 2014 codes. Most counties don't even require you to be an electrician to do electrical work. My wife and I sleep easy knowing that all our electrical work is done correctly and to 2017 Federal code. Matt is honest, easy to talk to, smart and very hard working and I trust him!!!! He explained everything he was doing since I watched him most of the time. I just moved here July 31, 2019 and have more work for Matt to do. I strongly recommend him! If I could give him 10 stars I would! James P. Nemeth, MGySgt USMC Retired"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can get shocked while using a multimeter if:

  • You touch the metal tip while testing a live current.

  • The meter isn’t properly rated for the voltage.

  • The meter picks up on transient voltage that’s above the range you’ve set.

  • The meter has defective parts.

You can prevent shock and personal injury by using a multimeter properly and maintaining your device.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or want help with your project, contact a local electrician to get the job done.

You should never plug a normal 120v appliance into a special 240v outlet, as it can quickly burn out the appliance. This will cause irreparable damage to the appliance and, in worse case scenarios, cause damage to your circuit breaker. Check your appliance’s rating before plugging it into a 220v outlet to avoid electrical disaster.

Yes, a bad switch can cause other outlets not to work. If the switch is part of a circuit that controls multiple outlets, a fault in the switch can disrupt the entire circuit. It can happen if the switch is wired incorrectly, has a loose connection, or is damaged. Fixing or replacing the faulty switch can often restore power to the affected outlets

Technically, an outdoor outlet can be on the same circuit as an indoor outlet, but it's generally not recommended. Outdoor outlets should ideally be on a dedicated circuit that doesn't share power with other indoor or outdoor outlets. This helps ensure that the outdoor outlets are able to handle the additional electrical load without overloading the circuit. Additionally, outdoor outlets are often exposed to the elements, which can increase the risk of electrical shock and other hazards. If you must have an outdoor outlet on the same circuit as an indoor outlet, be sure that the circuit has the capacity to handle the additional load.

If you’re moving wires, installing new wires, or installing new fixtures in the space you’re insulating, then you will need to hire a licensed electrician to do that portion of the job for you. However, if you just intend on replacing old insulation or adding new insulation over existing insulation, then you don’t need to hire one. Your insulation installer will work around wiring, fixtures, outlets, and switches, even if they’re installing fiberglass batts in the voids where wires run. However, you will need an electrician if you suspect a problem with your wiring during the insulation work.
