"I had an amazing experience working with the team at Closet Factory Allentown, PA! Despite the pandemic, the team was very professional, patient, and worked within my budget. Our designer Jennifer was terrific, kind, and willing to make the changes we requested. Our closets are better organized with less stress. I highly recommend them without any reservations!!!!"

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"We have three housedogs and two horses, so animal hair, dust and outside dirt accumulate here very quickly. And we insist on living in a totally clean house. Just because we have a barn doesn't mean we want to live in one. We have been using CDOF for 6 months now and are extremely satisfied with their weekly cleaning services. Can't say enough good things about the company. Outstanding communication is one of the owner's greatest strengths. She has never arrived late or missed our scheduled service. Looking forward to our next appointment."

"Friendly, knowledgeable. Came to home twice. Once for estimate and again to do the work. Called both times to say they would be late. First visit 1.5 hours late. Second visit an hour late."

Closets questions, answered by experts

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

There are certainly luxury upgrades you can make but you can seriously improve the look and functionality of a closet without spending much money. Color matching will make the closet seem bigger so any shelves painted the same as the wall is a good tip. While pre-made closet organizers may seem expensive they offer an aesthetic look that's hard to achieve with DIY methods. Lastly, removing clutter and unworn items will help the closet seem bigger and cleaner.

You can turn an adjacent room into a walking closet by just rearranging the room. This means removing the furniture and adding racks and an island in the center if you have that in your budget. Houses with two bedrooms connected to each other are great options for large walk-in closets that don't require any structural changes or much building whatsoever.
