Customers say: Quick response

"Aaron and his crew did a great job. Extremely pleased with the quality of their work. Had 12 pine trees taken down. Had Aaron spread top soil and seed. So far a week and 1/2 later we have grass. I would not hesitate to recommend Aaron for your next landscaping project. Pictures to follow"

"They were very professional, timely and everything was cleaned up neatly after the job was done. Very happy. They not only trimmed one tree, but removed another tree and had the stump ground out. Very professional job."

"Brightview Landscape met and exceeded every expectation we had for this job. They contacted us promptly and were super responsive to our questions, came out for a quote quickly, and the work was superb. They got our large yard compltely cleaned up and ready for winter, repaired several split-rail fences, and removed a TON of leaves. It was EXACTLY what I had hoped they'd do and more. We're thrilled. I'd recommend Brightview to anyone."

"We had to have trees removed because of root rot and related problems. One of them was a huge old oak that Penn State's plant pathology department called a "hazard tree." All of them were in our closely planted, lovingly landscaped native plant garden. There wasn't a lot of room to move - and only a fairly narrow passage between houses to take them out. I was expecting devastation: but Cutting Edge did a fabulous job. One arborist - who's taken care of our trees for years - turned down the job outright, I think because of the difficulty of getting the trees down and the wood out without damage. Another arborist simply said, "There will be damage." A few weeks after Cutting Edge finished, though, you'd barely know they'd been here, except for the missing trees themselves and a big stump that we'd asked them to leave. The owners came out and scoped the property carefully, consulting with us all the way - both during the initial consultation and during the process of removing the trees. They "got" the idea of native plants - which not everyone does. They took great care with everything. When an issue arose - for example, at some point they wanted to temporarily move some small shrubs to get them out of harm's way - they consulted with us. We really appreciated their care in this respect, as well. At some point, they spotted a high-up hollow in another tree and, without extra cost to us, called in an expert to consult. They investigated carefully, described what they'd found, and we were able to agree that the tree should be monitored but nothing had to be done yet. Our neighbors were so impressed with their work that they hired them for some work in their own yard. On top of all that, they were very prompt and very professional. They started and finished the job as scheduled, with one exception: they needed a special piece of equipment to remove one tree without disturbing the flowerbed it stood in, and it wasn't available when they expected. They rescheduled that and came back - again, exactly as promised - and finished up neatly. Throughout the process, they were very professional, considerate, and meticulous. I am truly impressed."

"Very nice and hard-working guys. We are very happy with their work. Took a large maple tree down and ground up the stump. Topsoil and planted grass seed and topped with hay."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Lightning can cause massive damage, fires, and openings for other threats like bugs or fungal diseases. Barring any large fires or explosions, it’s difficult to tell how much damage a lightning strike has done until after a thorough inspection. Contact local authorities immediately if lightning strikes a tree in your yard and it causes a fire or explosion.

The cost of professional tree trimming averages $460, with a typical range between $200 and $760. However, prices can be as low as $75 or as high as $1,800 depending on several factors. The size and type of the tree are major cost drivers; for example, trimming Crepe Myrtle trees costs an average of $80 to $400, while trimming giant pine trees can range from $200 to $1,800. Other factors that influence the price include the time of year, as services are often more costly in the spring. The tree's accessibility and your location also play a role, as a remote or hard-to-reach tree may increase the cost. Some professionals may offer a discount if you have multiple trees to trim.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

Planting a palm tree close to your home can provide shade while elevating the beauty of your yard. However, there are a few safety concerns to consider before doing so. You’ll want to opt for a smaller tree with a non-invasive root system. Select a species that won’t grow too tall and choose a planting location that won’t damage your home.

Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.
