"The install of the new a/c was replacing what was originally there. Wanted a a/c with a heat pump so that I could use that for heating. They also installed a nest thermostat to work with it. The removal of the old system & the new installation was done like it was for their own home. Worked long hours till the job was completely done. The owner & his two workers were extremely friendly"

"I highly recommend Kleinbauer Mechanical for your heating and plumbing needs. They responded quickly and sent a wonderful young man Chris who was able to get my furnace up and running on a very cold Sunday. Chris was so helpful, took time to explain why the furnace shut down and showed me the issues that need to be addressed. I was so happy with the service I booked an appointment with Chris for future work before he left."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

It depends on the specifics of your warranty. The motor is likely not covered if you’re working with a limited warranty. The same goes for other components like the compressor and evaporator coil. Some extended warranties will cover the blower and fan motor, so read the fine print before signing up. Additionally, the manufacturer may offer a warranty for the parts, including the motor, though there’s likely to be a strict time limit for this coverage.

During the summer, it’s best to set your AC to 78 degrees when you’re home and awake, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). For better energy efficiency, raise the temperature slightly to 85 degrees while you’re out of the house. The National Sleep Foundation advises lowering your thermostat to between 60 and 67 degrees when you’re asleep.

Most HVAC service calls include diagnostic fees, which could include checking on a specific issue you’re experiencing or running through a routine inspection checklist. If you called for a particular problem, the service call will also include an estimate to fix the issue, including materials and labor. Depending on your HVAC technician and the service you requested, you might also get a general inspection of your system components to ensure everything is working as intended.

While 72 degrees is a comfortable setting for many people, it’s likely not the most efficient temperature setting for your air conditioning unit. By pushing the temperature up to 75 or 78 degrees, you stand to save money on your energy bill. That said, these temperatures may be too warm to be comfortable for some people and are definitely too warm for most people to sleep comfortably.

Yes, you should turn off your AC if it’s leaking. Turning off the system prevents more condensation from leaking and reduces strain on the unit if a damaged internal component or lack of refrigerant is the cause. While this may temporarily stop the leak, water can continue to drip from a thawing coil even after the system is off. As soon as you notice a leak, turn off the unit and investigate the source or call a professional for an inspection.
