The list of renovations needed to be completed before we moved in was staggering but we managed to get everything buttoned up and the rest is history. Fast forward 7 years and here we are. I knew the venting system in the house needed to be taken care of but I didn't know where to begin. I called a few different places but after reading reviews, we didn't feel comfortable with any of them. I then came across Enviro Air Remedies. They have an A standard with the BBB as well as a member of NADCA. I called a scheduled an appointment, they gave me a reminder call, and showed up on time and ready to go. (Looking spotless I might add) They started from the top story down to the basement, cleaning the vents and work areas as they went room to room. Their equipment looked new and well taken care of. They also had proper drop material as to not leave anything to cleanup later. In my case, there were two returns in the basement that had heavy debris inside and cutting into the box was necessary. Once everything was removed, a new sheet-metal plate was installed, tapped off, and looked good as new. The team said my system hadn't been cleaned in a long long time if at all. I was pretty blown away hearing that. Looking at the before and after photos, I can't stress enough how important it is to get your systems cleaned for your safety and the safety of your family. They stuck a negative pressure vacuum on the air return instead of going in there with a brush and scrubbing the vents, that's no different than me turning on my air-conditioning unit and letting the air filter flow through the air. "The entire process went very, very well from start to finish! I had been somewhat apprehensive, partly because I was still shocked by the fire, considering how close it came to engulfing the whole house. Firemen and electricians all told my husband and me how very lucky we were because it was an extremely close call!
<br /> Dillon, head of the team, was exceedingly patient in explaining all that was to transpire during the course of the day. He indicated that their restoration process will make everything ready for contractors to repair damage. Then the process began. First, all damaged material was removed from the garage. Certain items were photographed for reference purposes. Then these items were packaged in bags and placed in the Dumpster. Some larger or unwieldy items were simply placed neatly into the receptacle. Dillon, as well as the other crew members, Nicole and Chris, were always most tidy, precise, and thorough with all that they did. I was asked my wishes as to the question of disposal of certain items. If I wanted to keep something, we discussed the advisability of retaining or discarding it. I always had the option of talking over an issue. I never felt pressured or unduly influenced. One happy event: Chris found an old postcard from my husband to his family; he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era, fifty years ago! Thank you so much again, Chris. A piece of almost ancient history!
<br /> After all was removed from the garage, and the soot cleaned from the walls and ceiling, it was time for the steam cleaning. This was done quickly and efficiently. I'd like to add that cleaning of the walls, ceiling, and washing machine was also accomplished in the small room adjacent to the garage. Douglas Griffing, ServiceMaster's Estimator, noticed that this room had been damaged by smoke but had not (?!) been included in the insurance company's settlement. Mr. Griffing graciously added it to the agenda.

"I cannot say enough good things about Mellon Certified Restoration. One month after a 5 month long renovation of 4 bathrooms in my home, sewage backed up into and out of my basement guest bathtub and toilet into the fully carpeted guest bedroom/ closet/ large living area. Mellon was sent out by USAA, my insurance company, that same evening at 9:30 pm to do the initial cleanup, disinfection, removal of affected drywall, baseboards, insulation and wall to wall carpet and pad. They returned over the course of the next 5 days with special equipment to dry/dehumidify, and clean the air. My out of Town Thanksgiving guests were able to stay in the basement guestroom just a few days later—no odor at all. Every single employee was respecful, kind, courteous, helpful, sympathetic, understanding, and hardworking. There were at least 3 people for the cleanup. Because I was so pleased with their cleanup work, and because USAA recommended Mellon for the restoration I used them for the restoration as well. The Yeadon Branch manager did the quote for the insurance company. The restoration involved moving all furniture out including 7 floor to ceiling book cases, packing 100 boxes of books and LP vinyl records, replacing and painting drywall and baseboards, removing and replacing 1000 sq ft of carpet. All of this was accomplished in FOUR days by 8 people. Everything was put back in the EXACT order in which it was found—books, LP’s, knick knacks, furniture. The only difference was that everything was dusted and cleaner than prior to my sewage catastrophe. I have sung my praises of Mellon Restoration (Philadelphia Metro Branch in Yeadon, PA) to all of my friends and my homeowners association.

"After shampooing the carpet area and beginning the kitchen tile floor their machinery broke down.
<br /> The men did everything they could to get it repaired however they had to come back the next day.
