"I had a fantastic experience with Outdoor Organics. After a different company left a massive pile of gravel in my mothers driveway, I called Outdoor Organics in desperation. Not only were they able to accommodate us last minute, but they also got the job done in just a few hours something that would have taken me an entire day. The driveway looks fantastic, and the professionalism of the team was top-notch. Outdoor Organics is the way to go if you are looking for reliable and quality work. Highly recommend!"

Customers say: Quality work

"The guys at M&J were outstanding. They came out and did an estimate, and did the job they said they'd do. They took extra care around decorative stone and sprayed the rest of the driveway. It really helped me and I would recommend them to anyone."

"Jackson was amazing to work with. His prices were fair and he accomplished the work quickly and without any delays. He replaced our mulch with stone and finished our path. It looks amazing! We will definitely call him for our next project."

"Central seal coating, and mowing is owned and operated by Travis Wilson. Licensed and insured company. We Couldn’t be more happier! Driveway and parking lot looks great. Travis was very thorough with his explanation for work he was performing am my residence. Travis and his employees are very respectful, honest and hard-working. Central seal coating and mowing does exceptional work. Travis is an independent owner/operator contractor, who funds all of his own materials prior to it being done. He just asked to be paid when the job is complete and you’re satisfied with central sealcoating and mowings work. He guarantees his work and stands behind it. Central sealcoating and mowing was very professional. Don’t expect to pay a fortune to have work performed by central Sealcoating & mowing.I recommend central seal coating in mowing for all your asphalt needs"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

Recycled asphalt is not better than gravel, but can be a good alternative. It is inexpensive, but not as low-cost as gravel, and doesn’t tend to last as long. Recycled asphalt isn’t as dusty as gravel and is more environmentally friendly. The black look can be something that homeowners prefer. No matter what, ensure you choose an experienced recycled asphalt contractor.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.
