"Hired this company to change out my panel box. Roger came in to give ma an estimate and said he can do it with in the next 2 weeks, it didn't even take a week before he had his guys come. Tim and Cameron arrived, introduced themselves, explained what they were about to do. They were polite, sociable and worked efficiently. Excellent experience and pricing was affordable. I will definitely be using them for all of our electrical needs."

"Basically remodeled our whole down stairs, made bathroom bigger, added tile shower, and laundry. Widened doorway between living room and dining room. Raised ceilings, drywall, painted cabinets, added lighting. Very nice work."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

There are three main wires on a doorbell, typically color-coded white, black, and green, that are connected to a transformer box in your home. One wire runs to the doorbell button, another wire runs to the door chime, and the third wire runs between the doorbell button and the door chime.

Most LED bulbs have a plastic covering, while incandescent bulbs will be made from glass. This is because LED bulbs don’t produce as much heat as incandescent bulbs, so the covering doesn’t need to be as heat resistant. Also, an LED light bulb will usually have a marking on its base that identifies it as an LED.

It's less expensive to run power overhead because it doesn’t require excavation, and the power cables are less costly. However, underground electric service is better protected from weather and general wear and tear, so it’s less likely to get damaged. When determining which way to run power, consult a local electrician to get an expect opinion.

Typically, refrigerators should not be plugged into GFCI outlets. This is another appliance with a motor that can be prone to a little current leakage. Using a standard outlet saves nuisance tripping and the potential of waking up to a refrigerator full of warm food. The only exception is when the refrigerator is in a garage, where all outlets must be GFCI.

Outlets do wear out, usually within 15-25 years, but they can fail even sooner than that —sometimes in a matter of years. If your plugs always slide out after you put them in, this is a sign your outlets need to be replaced. Additionally, if your outlets are damaged, cracked, discolored, or regularly tripping the circuit breaker, they may be at the end of their life.
