"I am so pleased with the service I received from Nate! He was responsive to my calls and questions and got my gutout done on the timeline he promised. He even called the township to find the best place to put the dumpster to be courteous to the neighbors. He was very clean throughout the process and left my home prepped for our new renovations!"

"Great moving company, great people!. Jacob and Chris helped us with a small move (about a studio apartment’s worth of stuff) from PA to OH, and they did an excellent job! Everything was done very professionally and efficiently from start to finish. All of the items were handled very carefully, and the logistics of the move were well thought-out. I had a mirror that was broken during transfer (that I wrapped myself), but Jacob took the price off the bill right away, no questions asked. We also booked the move last-minute (less than a week before), and they were able to accommodate us and answer all of our many questions despite it being their busy season! We would definitely book them again - they were a pleasure to work with!"

Garbage Removal questions, answered by experts

To prevent drain clogs, perform regular maintenance and cleaning. Avoid disposing of substances like grease or coffee grounds down the sink. Additionally, installing and routinely using drain strainers can help catch debris and prevent blockages from forming.

While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

If you cook a lot or have a larger household, a garbage disposal can be worth it, since it streamlines your kitchen duties and helps to keep food waste out of landfills. It helps to know the cost of garbage disposal installation before you make your decision. The average price is about $400, but you can expect to pay more for higher-end models or if you hire a pro to do the job for you.

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.
