"The product is a bit pricey but the concept of the product does seem to be the best on the market and appears to work well. The Project Mgr stays on the site and takes pictures when it is completed so you can view the upper gutters. My only drawback was the "cleanout gutters" part of the contract. They pulled the junk out of the gutters but did not do anything with the downspouts or check to see if they were blocked. I had to get them to go back up with the hose to flush out blockage like any other gutter cleaning co. would do! After they left I had to clean out gutter debris from my landscape and around on my patio."

All gutters carry water away from your home, but only Leafguard does it with a unique, proprietary one-piece debris-shedding design that is better than any other gutter system on the market today. Leafguard gutters work on a simple but powerful scientific principle known as liquid adhesion. This allows rainwater to travel around the hood and into the gutter, while deflecting leaves and other debris to never clog.

"He did come out to give an estimate very quickly and seemed like a nice guy. The work they did was ok but I asked them if they could place the downspout from the upper roof directly into the lower gutters and he agreed during his estimate visit to the house to do so ...during installation they only did this to one of the gutters and not the others. Also the estimate he gave me ended up being a 'mistake' and he waited until the day of installation before telling me that the real price would be $170 more than the original estimate. By that time it was too late to get someone else to do the work because we were well into fall and I was afraid the weather would turn too cold to do the project. When I asked how it could be so much more he said 'sorry everyone makes mistakes...do you want it done or not?' Then 1week after I got the bill in the mail he left a note on the windshield of my car wanting to know why he hadn't been paid yet. Sorry the postal service doesn't move fast enough for you cause I already put it in the mail the day prior. Wow...do not know how this guy got such good reviews from others."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

When it comes to which gutter material is better, the choice really boils down to what you're looking for in a gutter system. If saving money is the most important factor, then your best option is to go for aluminum gutters. If longevity and durability are more important to you, then copper gutters could be the best fit. If you want to customize the color of your gutters, aluminum takes the cake, but if you're looking for a more natural appearance, copper might be a better choice.

The average cost to install or replace gutters is around $2,000, with typical project costs ranging from $900 to $7,000. Most companies charge between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The total price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the complexity of its footprint, the gutter material (e.g., vinyl, metal), and the gutter style (e.g., half-round, custom-built). Additional elements like downspouts, corners, and optional add-ons like gutter guards can also increase the price. The condition of your roof is another consideration, as new gutters cannot be installed on a rotting or sloping roof. While it can be an expensive upfront cost, new gutters are a worthwhile, long-lasting investment for protecting your home's exterior. You can save up to half on labor costs by installing them yourself.

Yes. Excessive pitch in gutters can cause water to flow too rapidly, leading to a decrease in the gutter's water-holding capacity; consequently, during heavy rainstorms, water may awkwardly splash outside the gutters. Ideally, you should aim for a quarter-inch of gutter slope for every 10 feet of gutter run. However, it's important to note that this guideline may vary depending on your home's structure and the type of gutters being installed.

Yes, it is okay to knock down icicles yourself. Just make sure to take the proper safety precautions. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, contact a roofing professional.

Any small amount of standing water can be damaging to your gutters. It’s recommended that a ¼ inch puddle or more should be addressed. Failure to keep water from pooling in your gutters can result in clogs, algae growth, and pests that damage your gutters over time.
