"Pro-Action did a horrible job. They were hired by our Public Adjuster to provide smoke remediation services after a fire in our house. We had to keep going back to them for months later since since the smell remained. They were also responsible for cleaning the house and packing up contents. They left 30% of our stuff unpacked, laying around, uncovered and unprotected even though they were made aware workers would be pulling down drywall and making a mess. ELectronics were left unprotected and ended up covered in dust and ruined before we spent many weekends cleaning and packing up what they were supposed to have done. We opened just 2-3 boxes they packed and found heirlooms broken and pieces of broken glass strewned around --- their packing was so haphazard and careless that we figure our expensive China, cutlery & ceramics will also be found damaged when we unpack them. Plus Pro-Action was unreliable, had bad attitude and left the job half completed. Only when we complained about the lack of any smoke remediation did we get an attempt to finally address it from senior Manager, Mike who did provide some smoke remediation services (that his staff never attempted) months after the fire. But zero follow-thru on promises to address broken stuff before we found our Miele vacuum broken and unusable. We're likely to find alot more broken & damaged based on the few boxes we opened but Our insurance has paid them already so we doubt we'll have any recourse. WHY DOES ANGIE'S LIST certify this company when the only reviews written here are awful? I've heard Enservio does a good job so try them and forget about Pro-Action."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Just as moving a couch by yourself isn’t always a good idea, moving a heavy bed frame by yourself is not advisable. Doing so puts you at risk of injury, and you can damage the frame if you drop it or bang it while moving it. The best way to move a heavy bed frame is to enlist the help of friends or family or hire professional movers with the experience and equipment to move it safely and efficiently.

You can lay a refrigerator down to move it with a lot of padding underneath, but it’s best to transport it upright to keep the cooling refrigerant and compressor oil in place. These elements can cause blockages if not given time to settle before turning the fridge on.

If you need to lay the fridge down to move it, position the fridge door hinges so that doors won’t open while moving.

Movers calculate a moving estimate through various methods, including flat fees, estimated weight, amount of space taken up in the moving truck, or a combination. Read the estimate carefully, including parts of the contract that cover mover liability, how and when movers arrive, and other information. The best estimates include an itemized list with fees for fuel, especially large items, packing and unpacking, storage services, and more.

Yes, there are sometimes hidden costs when hiring a moving company. These can include fees for packing, handling, and assembling specific large items, fees for packing materials used, and charges for trips over a certain mileage. To avoid hidden fees, always request a detailed quote before booking or paying a deposit.

Moving bulky home gym equipment without disassembling it is possible, but it can be more time-consuming, troublesome, and costly. Transporting a treadmill or rowing machine in one piece might require more labor to lift it and maneuver it out of your home, and it will take up more space in a moving truck.
