"We hired Lucas, owner of OCD Handyman, to do various small jobs on our house since we were planning on putting it on the market. We paid Lucas $25,000. He told us all his work comes with a warranty. He gave us a 3 year warranty on waterproofing a section in the crawl space. Immediately after the job was done it rained and water came in. Lucas told us we should regrade. We let him regrade and paid him additional money. It rained again and water came in again. When we contacted him about the water he gave us many reasons for this. We asked him why we gave him more money if he knew the regrading would not work. He did not have an answer. He also installed a fence which fell apart. He said he would fix the fence and give us a partial refund for the regrading. Several months have passed and he has not repaired the fence or send us back the refund that he promised. Lucas will give you a warranty on his work but it is not worth anything. Lucas worked for us for approximately 3 months straight and we gave him a lot if money because he portrays himself as being a honest person, obviously he is not. If there is a problem with his work he will not fix it. Unfortunately we are going to have to sue him to get our money back. This is not what i wanted to do. Donâ t believe anything he says!!!!"

The best way to kill off an algae bloom in an aboveground pool is to shock it with a large dose of chlorine. Shock typically kills off algae in about one to three days, although it can take longer if the pool water is in poor condition. A pool heater is worth the expense, given that it can extend your swimming season by several months, depending on where you live. For many, adding a pool heater allows the pool to remain in service from May through mid-October. Even temperatures in the 40s and 50s are tolerable when the water in the pool is heated.

Both above ground and inground pools can have pool liners. Inground pools made of gunite don’t need pool liners, and you’ve probably walked along an unlined pool and felt the ripples and ridges on the floors and walls. But adding a liner over gunite or other pool types helps protect the wall panels from algae growth.

Shock can clear a cloudy pool if the problem is insufficient free chlorine or an accumulation of chloramines from “spent” chlorine. However, it can make the issue worse if a high level of chlorine or a pH imbalance is the root cause of the problem. Test your pool water before treating the cloudiness to ensure you’re making the right call.
