Tech was very friendly and professional. He explained what the issue had been and what steps he was taking to correct it. I would definitely recommend this company. Not having an emergency situation . Explained that I would be happy if he could come at his convenience. Mr Fisher asked if he could come the next day that he considered a gas leak should be seen as soon as possible. The next day he arrived early in the morning ( 9:00 to 9:30 ) went right to work . Checked to see if gas was leaking into house. My concern was that this valve was built into stone fire place in 1958 and would be a major problem. Knowing his business he knew the valve could be taken apart while in place. He took the valve apart and cleaned each part with emory cloth and cleaned with a liquid, reassembled. Valve working fine, better than before. Re-lit hot water tanks, checked all of the valves from gas meter into house and others in house for leaks The work time being about 45 minutes. My wife said I should let the ladies know that he also wore boot covers when ever he was in the house. Would I use him again, IN A FLASH !! Thanks Ben Fisher George & Jill Sye

Promised I would be notified as I wanted to be on-premise (and have that legal right as a homeowner) then, when he eventually got around to doing the work (and, to be FAIR the weather was terrible, so delays were expected!) flew in under the radar and did a quick (according to the neighbors) one and a half hour, one man, incomplete, blotchy job. Did not use primer or a two-in-one. Overspray on all my bushes, flowers and some windows. Left two buckets of paint sitting in boiling sun. Neighbor had to go over and turn off the hose which was left spraying in the yard. Sprayed directly over peeling paint on shutters, which were to be wire brushed, did not patch siding dings as promised, and did not paint trim white as specified on contract...did not paint trim at all. He also did not coordinate with the gutter replacement company; I spent a good amount of time on the phone with both trying to ensure this. I do not believe this was the fault of the gutter company, in the end. I called him to see when/if they were coming back to finish. He said they would be back. I told him I thought he should really be present to see what the problems were; I also inquired as to the quality of the materials he used and application methods. A bird had pooped on the siding and it etched the paint when removed with a plain water rinse; he explained that bird poop was acidic (which everyone knows) and it would leave marks...not true if done correctly; the original paint was there over forty years and had never had etchings from poop! He became very defensive and said his painter would be back Monday; he refused to come out. He was condescending and trying very hard to be intimidating. At this point he was actually very NASTY. Painter came back Monday (nice guy), fixed some dings and brushed painted them. Installed new outside lights as promised. Did not do trim; I did not even push issue. At this point I wanted to be DONE with this company. Bottom line, I would have paid more to have the job done right. I would never do business with Bob Merchant again. He advertises he uses Glidden Paints, which I like- however, if I were the Glidden Company I would ask him to not use their products as he actually makes them look bad. Pennsylvania must hand out contractor licenses indiscriminately because this man should not be in business. Terrible job and terrible person to try to work with. Read the fine print, or lack thereof...not true to what he tells you verbally. Buyer beware!!!

We woke up to a chilly house. Furnace was turning on but not staying on and no hot air was blowing. Called Vogt and a tech was here by 2pm. He worked for about 2 hours and replaced a part. Part was about $90, so maybe a little expensive but I don't really have anything to compare to for that,...

DBC Remodeling helps clients remodel their houses into homes where they love to live. Operating in Erie, PA and northwest Pennsylvania since 2007, we are a residential remodeling contractor specializing in sunroom additions, kitchen and bath remodels, decks, awnings, basement waterproofing and basement finishing.
"We did the demo on our old two-tiered decking. Betterliving built a new upper deck from composite with aluminum railing. The lower deck was replaced with as 12X15 sunroom. The process from start to finish was a pleasure. All employees were friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. Price was better than anticipated, so we went with a 4-season sunroom instead of a 3-season. The worksite was safe, clean and orderly, and the quality of the build was excellent. They worked through some miserable cold weather too. Deck – Betterliving’s construction quality was a major improvement to what we previously had. Their suggestion to use two colors on the railing worked out great too - spindles are a different color that the rest of the railing. Sunroom - also very solid construction. It is insulated well, and also helps even out the temps in the family room it is attached to. The gable style not only looks nice, but makes the sun room look bigger. They built a small landing off of the sunroom entryway too. It is important to note that they installed the flooring and contracted the electrical. Flooring and electrical work were included as part of our quote with them. Not all of our quotes from other businesses included flooring and electrical work, and would have been an additional cost. Having everything included in the quote also meant we had one project, not several projects. Deck/sunroom/landing materials – decking and landing materials were the same composite materials. The sunroom skirting was also the same composite. This ties everything together visually, and improves the overall look. Electrical work – Knorr Electric completed all the electrical in the sunroom (interior and exterior outlets, exterior floodlight, and hung a ceiling fan). They also replaced all of our outside lighting on the entire house while they were here, and moved a bathroom light inside. They were also friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. And quality work from them too. We will definitely contact Betterliving and Knorr again for any additional work we want done. They are highly recommended! Note that Betterliving in the Erie, PA area is connected to DBC Remodeling and Construction (same employees). DBC came highly recommended to us from a friend."

"We have just finished up having demo work done in our basement after we got several inches of water in the deluge of storms a few weeks back, and needed to pass along our recommendation. After several DAYS of back-and-forth voicemails and â weâ ll call you back in 10 minutesâ with a popular restoration company, I started to look for a better solution. After all, who doesnâ t want to wait a few extra days as the mold starts to spread? I reached out to Noah at ServMate, and cannot say enough about how terrific he and his crew were. He answered my call and was at the house the next morning. Even showed up a few minutes early, whenâ s the last time you had a contractor do that? We had a drawn-out debate with our insurance company about coverage (they declined to get involved, naturally) and Noah was patient and helpful the entire way through. When they declined to assist, he made sure to work the bill to a number we could manage. His crew showed up on time, friendly, clean, and efficient. They put in a 12-hour day to make sure they got everything done as fast as they could so they could start drying the place out. One poor guy got saddled with 3+ hours of air chiseling the old vinyl tile up, but they still left with a smile. Every call and text was answered immediately or returned within minutes, day or night, weekend or not. All work was done to fit into our schedule. They were more than cooperative in helping make sure we knew exactly what was and wasnâ t salvageable, cleanable, etc. When the bill came due, Noah made sure to rework the invoice so we could split it over check and credit card payment. While I canâ t say the basement flood is an experience I enjoyed, working with Noah and his team was beyond an A+ experience. Should you find yourself in the same unfortunate position this spring, know that you will have a bright spot in the mess."

If you find evidence of water damage in your home, your best option is to call a local water damage restoration company immediately. You could call a plumber first if you know that the issue is stemming from a plumbing pipe, but in many cases, a company that specifically handles water damage will be able to find the source of the damage and recommend a specific repair. Water damage restoration pros will also be able to develop a plan to remove any damaged material and restore your home to its previous condition.
The average water damage restoration cost is around $3,500, but it’s not uncommon to see prices fall between $450 and $15,000. Your project cost will depend on the extent of the damage, the source of the water, whether or not mold has grown in the affected area from the moisture, and the emergency level of your water problem. Keep in mind that your insurance company may cover some or all of your restoration expenses if your homeowner’s insurance policy covers the specific issue.
