"John and Matt were knowledgable, professional, reliable, courteous, and reasonably priced. I had no idea what to expect when I decided to switch all our window treatments to motorized shades. The providers came to my house with all kinds of samples and helped me pick out the perfect shades for each room. They measured windows, explained my options, and walked me through each step of the process. They were friendly, patient, informative, and helpful. By the time they left, I felt like I was dealing with trusted friends. In no time at all, I got a call that the shades were ready to be installed. The team returned to the house and installed each shade with expertise and care. Some of our windows are slightly irregular, but John and Matt were able to correct for that. They were meticulous with their installation. The results were breathtaking! Our house looks amazing! Everyone who visits comments on how beautiful our new shades are. We were fortunate enough to get the latest remotes with our shades. They are incredible! John and Matt programmed each remote exactly as we asked, and they are so easy to use. They are also sleek, attractive, and look great located next to our light switches. I knew nothing about North Dallas Custom Window Treatments when I hired them, but I know a lot about them now. They are simply, THE BEST! I would recommend them to friends, family, and anyone who is seeking experts in window treatments. They are affable, considerate, and professional in every sense of the word. I intend this to be the highest recommendation I can give."

"I called and was able to quickly get an estimate and get the work scheduled right away. This was important as I was selling my house and needed to get the work done. The work to the structure under the porch was top notch and done quickly. The initial repairs done on the old windows was not done in a quality manner. But when I took photos and sent them to Luis he had someone out to fix the problems the very next day. In the end, the job done on the windows was acceptable, given the time constraints they were under. I would have like a little better quality on the windows, but as I said it was acceptable."

"Jose replaced our living room window and facia around it. He redid the front door and painted shutters and trim around the front windows. We will be getting more work done and will hire him. His knowledge about anything we asked him about was amazing. If you hire him, you will not be disappointed. His company bears his name and he stands behind his work."

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.

Professionals clean window screens the same way a homeowner can—by removing the screens and cleaning them with a sponge. A window cleaning pro may come with better equipment, like a high powered wet/dry vacuum or pressure washer to speed up the process and achieve a deeper clean.

Yes, a variety of screen materials cut out glare from the sun. Solar screen material can block up to 90% of the glare and heat from the sun, saving on cooling costs. It also offers privacy yet unlimited outward visibility. The cost depends on the size of the screen roll, but solar screens cost between $25 and $90 per roll.

Some hardware or specialty window stores in your area may repair damaged screens, but it’s less time-consuming, more convenient, and potentially more affordable to hire a screen repair technician to come to your home to do the work on-site. The screen technician will have the tools and experience to get the work done the same day, and they can inspect other screens while there to help avoid repeat repair costs in the future.
