Customers say: Quality work

"Brett is very patient and will go the extra mile to be sure the job is done right. I love the new front storm door with pull down screen and he replaced the handles on my entry door which was not easy since I purchased them myself but it installed them beautifully."

Small jobs welcome

"Did multiple small projects, including electrical work and masonry, for us in addition to making our shed look like new. Josh was skilled, friendly, accomodating. He was a real pro with integrity who paid careful attention to detail. We would hire him again in a heartbeat."

"I am extremely happy with AJ's service, start to finish. We initially reached out for an estimate at the beginning of 2015. A representative came to our house to explain all the different products as well as pricing and timing. I had reached out to 2 other companies before hand but was not comfortable their high pressure selling. AJ was very patient with us regarding our timing and budget. I received an estimate on the spot and was able to take my time to review and get back to them. We scheduled the work for May and was able to have 7 Windows removed and replaced in only a few hours. We are very impressed with the quick respond time, professionalism and quality of work including cleanup. We plan on using AJ to replace the remaining Windows as well as a sliding glass door in early 2016.

"They did a very good job. They were much more responsive when they were trying to sell me than they were after I was sold and gave them the job. They showed up when they said they would and they finished when they said they would. I was disappointed because I wasn’t told until they job was being done that they were going to use a sub contracted. The company Cottrell was there to bid the job and collect the check. The rest of it was done by a sub-contractor. The subcontractor did a good job. I was never informed that they would be sub-contracted until somebody showed up who I thought was an employee of  Cottrell and when I saw the baseball cap they were wearing with a competitors name on it and I said whey are you wearing their cap and he said I actually work for them. I think they should inform the clients that of they are going to use a subcontractor ahead of time. That is my only criticism. They did a good job and everything was done fine. I was disappointed that the only thing that Cottrell did was bid on the job and comeback and collect the check. It was in the spring and I ask the contractor to not drive on the yard because it was soft and I turned my back and he drove on the yard to save a couple minutes of time and I still have rots in my yard. I believed they were here for 2 full days. He said I thought I could got away with it, he was stuck that he had get another truck come to pull him out with chains. I know my yard so if I told him you shouldn’t drive there you shouldn’t drive there."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

The best type of window screen for your home depends on your region and your family’s needs. While fiberglass window screens are a popular, affordable, and easy-to-find choice, you may be looking for different benefits, such as a more high-end look, increased strength, or extended durability. The best window screen meets the demands of your home and its residents while staying within your budget.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.

Yes, a variety of screen materials cut out glare from the sun. Solar screen material can block up to 90% of the glare and heat from the sun, saving on cooling costs. It also offers privacy yet unlimited outward visibility. The cost depends on the size of the screen roll, but solar screens cost between $25 and $90 per roll.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

To ensure the longevity and smooth functioning of new windows, regular maintenance is essential. This includes cleaning the glass and frames, inspecting seals for leaks or damage, and reapplying caulking as needed. It is also important to lubricate all moving parts and operating mechanisms to ensure they continue to operate smoothly.
