Unlike high or semi-gloss paint finishes, which can create an excessively reflective effect in indoor spaces, the sheen in satin is understated and right at home on interior walls. If, on the other hand, you don’t want any level of shine at all, consider opting for a flat paint or another similarly sheenless alternative like matte. 

It's possible to paint over paneling without sanding if you use a primer that masks defects and provides a strong base layer for the final coat of paint to adhere to. However, if it isn’t sealed correctly or is subject to regular wear and tear, you can expect the coat to last 3 years or less.
