"The crew came to the house and modified their way of working to accommodate the tight work space. They were friendly and went above what they had to do by saving my flowers out of my flower bed before they began digging out the space. They answered my questions and explained how things were going. The company owner often checked in by phone and in person to communicate with me regarding the job."

"Corey not only did an excellent job... he showed up when planned, completed the work when stated and followed up a few months later to check on the job! I will definitely reach out the next time I am in need of repairs, replacement or remodel! It was a true pleasure working with him!!!"

"I contracted Bassett Home to update my 60 year old kichen. Bassett's did a fantastic job of refacing my existing cabinets that my father had built. They also installed some new cabinets to match along with a quartz countertop, new tiled backsplash, and new sink. Alex and Paige are some of the nicest people and wonderful to work with to make my kichen look totally new and updated."

"Great listener. Phenomenal work ethic. Worked consistently until the job was done, which, unfortunately, was a short timeline. All qualities that are very hard to find nowadays."

"Logan and his crew assisted me with our kitchen demo and remodeling. The project involved several phases as cabinets, fixtures, etc. were delivered. He remained flexible to the various obstacles we encountered and helped me do the things I could, (while telling me to get out of the way for others). This young man is professional and serious about what he does. Need a home? he can do that from the ground up. Demo or remodeling? No problem for them. One of his guys, Aaron, is just a great guy! Look forward to working with them all again in the future."

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Any bowing in a basement wall indicates a problem that needs to be addressed by a professional. If your basement wall bows more than 1 inch, it's time for an inspection. Generally, a wall can bow up to 30% of its thickness (around 2.5 inches for an 8-inch-thick wall) before it becomes an urgent situation. Bowing of 2 to 4 inches is more straightforward to fix than bowing of more than 4 inches, which will require significant repairs. If the bowing is more than 6 inches, the wall will likely need to be replaced. The sooner you address the problem, the easier and less expensive the repair will be.

While bathrooms and kitchens are nearly equal in terms of renovation difficulty, kitchens are the most challenging. Kitchen design, layout, electrical, and plumbing needs all depend on each other for the success of the entire project, and mistakes early in the project can cause trouble later on.

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.

A finished basement does not always count as square footage, as this varies by state regulations. In areas that allow below-grade spaces to be included in a home's official square footage, the basement must typically meet certain conditions. These conditions often include having a functional egress and being a livable space with flooring, finished walls, and temperature control. To be certain, contact your local assessor to confirm your area's specific policies regarding basement square footage.

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.
