"We're moving into a new house and after the previous owners moved out we realized the carpets were really dirty. I called Sears and they were able to squeeze us into their schedule. The team didn't a great job getting the carpets cleaned."

"It went only okay. I've used this company in the past and they have done an excellent job. This time, it was only okay. Spots were missed, they were supposed to clean the inside of the oven and the inside of the refrigerator and neither were touched."

"Left message and received a call back very promptly. Scheduled the work with George. He confirmed the appointment the evening before, showed up on time, kept everything tidy, was very courteous and very knowledgeable. The wool area rug was full of stains and now looks like new! The staircase carpeting is spotless! The wall to wall carpeting looks great. I will definitely use G-Pro again."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best solvent for removing carpet glue depends on its chemical composition. Most carpet glue reacts well to a solvent made from orange oil. Use mineral spirits to remove tar-based glue, which has a darker, brownish tint. Methylene chloride paint stripper and lacquer thinner should also work, but beware of the nasty and dangerous fumes.

Keeping your new carpet clean is vital to extending its longevity. Vacuuming regularly—at least once a week—can help remove dirt, debris, and pet hair. Instead of waiting, treating stains as they appear helps keep your carpet fibers looking fresh. Remember to blot rather than rub, rubbing will only make the stain larger.

It’s ideal to hire a professional carpet cleaning service to conduct a deep cleaning of your carpets a few times per year. The cost of professional carpet cleaning is $180 on average, which can help remove tough stains, draw out hidden dust and allergens, and eliminate odors.

Whether your carpet cleaner is self-employed or not doesn’t need to play a major factor in tipping. Some larger cleaning companies prefer you don’t tip their employees, but if the cleaner is self-employed that isn’t a concern. Tipping isn’t required for this service, so feel free to use it as an appreciation for their service and hard work.

Baking soda won't leave a carpet stain. However, the thing you're trying to clean up using it may leave a stain. Vacuum up any traces of baking soda after it's dry to remove the power. If you have any doubt about your particular carpet, test a spot of baking soda in an inconspicuous floor area to ensure it won’t discolor it.

Carpets can turn brown after cleaning due to a phenomenon called "wicking." It occurs when deep-seated dirt and moisture rise to the surface as the carpet dries because of excessive water or improper rinsing. Additionally, not allowing the carpet to dry thoroughly before walking on it can lead to browning.
