"I had them clean my carpet and downstairs and then the steps and a couple of rooms upstairs. It was quite soiled, my older dog has had some issues recently. After the job was done, it came out really good. It almost looks like new, the dog spots were taken care of and were gone. The carpet smelled really clean, not overwhelming at all, very pleasant."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Depending on carpet type and labor, costs range from $3 to $12 per square foot.

If the installer is unwilling to fix the problems and you’re not interested in seeking remediation, you could hide a visually unpleasant floor. This will only work if the floor is structurally sound and the only issue you have is the way it looks. The easiest way to do this is to use large area rugs. You can also paint the floor, although that’s a labor-intensive job if you want to go the DIY route.

New carpet installation offers warmth, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. It can improve indoor air quality by trapping dust particles and provides a sound-dampening effect, which is beneficial for creating quiet environments.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet
