"Our two-story home was in dire need of exterior painting and weather damage repairs. Elite Enclosures team is skilled and responsible, polite, positive and efficient. Adam Martin strives to communicate with us, so that we have full understanding of the project. The crew are polite, friendly and good humored, but constantly working. The weather damage required a new man-door frame installation and the double garage door needed dry rot removal and mold removal, including siding replacement. The resulting repairs are exceptional and we are impressed. We have hired the same business to replace a dry-rotted fence and build a new gate, all done well!"

"Josiah is a true craftsman. I needed a custom credenza that would hide an a/c unit and still allow for air flow. He was constantly in touch with me to ensure everything was to my specifications and taste. The end product is stunning, sized and finished to perfection. Stop looking for a piece of furniture that will do. Instead, have it customized. Bonus, the price was exactly what we negotiated."

"Only thing they did themselves was the patio ceiling & French drain for my project. Acted as hiring contractor for all the other work. Overall project was a success, but I didn't appreciate how the lead crewman/ owner spoke to his employee. Subcontractors that were hired were excellent."

"Was looking for blinds but wasn’t sure what to get. Kurt went over his selection, he is very professional and he helped me chose without the salesman speech. Really appreciate that. My blinds were delivered and installed in just few days. The installation was done in one hour, very professional and extremely clean. I highly recommend Kurt if you’re looking for blinds. Giving Kurt 5 stars with no hesitation. I love my blinds, Thank you, Kurt!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.
