"Worst painting experience ever! Contract said professional experienced painters, not even close. They had no idea what they were doing. Destroyed my lawn, missed spots right and left, not enough chalking. They lacked any kind of supervision or instruction on how to do the job right. After coming back twice to fix things It’s still not right! I’m so fed up and frustrated with them I would never recommend them and suggest people look elsewhere for any painting needs!"

"We paid a lot to paint our house and detached shop building about six years ago, It did not hold up as expected. We located and chose Advanced Painting (owner Steve Richardson) because of his positive review comments. Steve was very responsive to our inquiries and met with us prior to submitting a proposal. Steve called several days ahead of the start date, explained how he would sequence the job, and coordinated with our schedule. That ease of communication and willingness to meet and discuss the project created a confidence that is not easily found in other contractors. The existing paint was in bad shape, flaking badly. Steve dealt with this problem by upgrading to a sealing pre-primer to extend the life of the new paint. After priming the entire house, Steve applied two coats by brush. I have never had a painting contractor display that level of care and workmanship. Steve was consistently prompt, courteous, efficient and knowledgeable. He worked long, hard days and finished the job earlier than projected. It was a beautiful job. Thank you, Steve."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

How long peel-and-stick wallpaper lasts depends on a few factors, including the conditions in the room, the quality of the wallpaper, and the wallpaper's application. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but you may decide to remove it sooner. Under ideal conditions, it can also last for much longer.

Factors that may shorten the lifespan of peel-and-stick wallpaper include high humidity in a room (such as a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper.

Hanging wallpaper may seem simple, but in practice it requires significant planning and finesse to make it look professional. To start, you need to get an even application of wallpaper paste across all of your wallpaper, which requires experience and large pasting tables to get right. You also need to plan out your design and match it exactly so that you don’t have imperfections in the finished product. It’s often better to hire a professional wallpaper hanger who can get the job done properly for a clean, smooth finish.

Wallpaper in bathrooms can last anywhere from one to 10 years, depending on what type was used, how well it was installed, and the measures in place to reduce moisture and humidity levels. Opting for a more durable variety and taking all the necessary protective measures will get you closer to that longer lifespan.

No, you don’t need to apply paint primer to your wall before hanging paintable wallpaper. Manufacturers design paintable wallpaper so that the paint will adhere effectively, so primer isn’t necessary. Plus, even if you opt for a light shade of paint, you won’t have to worry about the shade underneath showing through because you are painting on a light, white surface.

No. If you overlap seams, the wallpaper will not come out flat. In addition to possibly throwing off your pattern match between rolls, overlapping seems necessary. If wallpaper is properly acclimated, and temperature and moisture conditions are optimal during installation, there is no reason to fear shrinkage as it dries.
