Die Hard Blind Services

The installation went well. The installer was professional and competent. The problem is that I was told that due to the size of the blinds, I would need two installers. So, I was charged in advance for this service. The day of the installation, only one installer came. He did a magnificent job. However, when I called the company to request a refund for the extra installer, the representative was not responsive and I have yet to receive a refund for services that were not rendered. It has been frustrating and has made me have concerns about the integrity of the company

CINDY'S WINDOW FASHION
5.0
This place and these people are so wonderful!! Nancy at Cindy’s Window Fashions was amazing. I’ve never had curtains custom-made and she answered ALL my many questions and gave the very best advice, with explanations when I needed them. Her expertise and decades of experience really show. My fabric is a large print and the fabric had to be pieced together to be wide enough for the windows. On the finished product, the pattern is absolutely seamless! And you should see the way the panels line up in the front, so that the pattern flows seamlessly, and centered/balanced across the front as well. It’s immaculate. Although they are out in Gresham, they could transfer product to Bolliger’s, near 33rd and Broadway, close in Northeast Portland. Very convenient for me. In summary, high quality, professional, and kind! What more could you ask for

Divine Window Decor

I love my new blinds. I contacted Debbie a second time after I received another quote at a lesser price. She worked with me on that to both of our satisfactions. She is a small business owner which I appreciate and her customer service was awesome. I would definitely use Divine Windows again and highly recommend

Divine Window Decor

Previous experience with Divine Window Decor was very positive. More recently two new skylights presented a challenge. I have interior shutters in other parts of the home but had not thought these could work for skylights. Debbie checked out possibilities and provided design. The shutters now are are installed and provide a beautiful and practical solution for control and direction of light into the upstairs bedroom and bath. Debbie's expertise and service was invaluable

Edwards Siding, LLC
5.0
I hired Edward to take on a series of small exterior renovations, including window and door flashing & caulking refurbishment, re-siding of my gable end walls, installation of attic vents / wall louvers, and blown-in attic insulation. Edward is highly skilled, very resourceful, and doesn't hesitate to make recommendations based on his breadth of experience in the construction industry. He's transparent about his process and timeline. I am also very happy with Edward's ability to meet my budget. I would absolutely recommend Edward to anyone who wants exteriors work done on their home. I am already recommending him to my brother. -Blai

Macadam Floor And Design
5.0
I highly recommend McAdam Flooring & Design. Rick Correa was my Sales Rep and he did an excellent job. He held himself accountable from start to finish…which is rare. (This is also a reflection of company leadership and management.) Rick was on top of all the details. When there was an issue (which is inevitable with all remodeling jobs), Rick and his team were quick to respond and fix it. I had a plumber and an interior door contractor come in. The plumber commended the quality of the kitchen counter work and the interior door contractor commended the flooring work done around the door frames. If high quality work and excellent service are at the top of your priority list, then you’d be crazy to go anywhere else. Their pricing was very competitive as well! I am very picky and pay attention to detail and they get an A+ from me. Also, I had their designer, Brenda, help pick out the floors and the color of the back splash (a free service of McAdam), and she did a lovely job

One thing I liked was that we had 2 meetings with Darby. There were a lot of options to look at and many decisions to make so the first appointment was scheduled for plenty of time to get that all done. Then, after we had time to think about our choices, we came back and were able to update anything we wanted to change. At the end of our second meeting, everything is finalized and signed off

Lifetime Windows & Doors

They are still working. They were here yesterday, today and probably tomorrow. Give them A for awesome. They are doing great. They cover everything. They clean up everything. They are just putting the windows in so I don't know how good they'll be till I've lived with them. They look beautiful. They look A, awesome. I would say they are installing great quality windows. When I have asked them to help me get the shades off the window that I can't get off, they take them down. They cover everything up so I would recommend them to anybody

I ordered the bind on 7/28, was informed that it shipped on 8/4. The note said it would be delivered on 8/8 and gave a tracking number for fed ex. OK so far... but then, 8/8 , it still is not showing up on Fred Ex so I called the company. Iwas told that the date was not when Fed Ex would deliver the package, but when they would get the package to fedex in my home town, and Fedex would deliver it locally. This started to sound a bit weird, like a made up story. I called back and asked to talk to a manager, was told they are all in a meeting and someone would get back in 24 hours then later was told in the same conversation 24-48 hours. I was left on hold for a lomg time so used that time to register a complaint with the BBB, of which it looks like there are quite a few unresolved complaints. I called back later and was told management was in a meeting all day and noone could talk to me. When I started looking at this company's PR, they filter their reviews and make it sound like they are a good buisiness, I would not agree in the least and am sorry i have ordered from them. Would not order again nor suggest any one else does. Very bad experience. I cannot speak to the quality or price value of the object because it was never delivered. This company seems to have a all smiles front to the world, but the joke is on the person trying to order from them

"The project Wonderman completed for us was, at its core, a re-piping project for the 2nd floor of our home. Two years ago, we had a leak on the 1st floor that educated us about the fact that the pipes inside our walls were all PVC, a cheap option used in the 1990s that is doomed to fail. Our homeowner’s insurance covered the three-month remediation when the leak occurred but did not cover replacement of the PVC plumbing – that cost was ours alone. We didn’t have enough $$ to re-pipe the whole house then, and we didn’t want to extend the time we were in a hotel with our 2 cats. So, we only re-piped the 1st floor during the original remediation. Now, two years later, it was time to re-pipe the 2nd floor. We intended to re-hire the same company that our insurance adjuster hired 2 years ago to finish the re-pipe project and to add a couple of upgrades while the bathroom walls were open. But, when we got the bid estimate from that company (a general contractor), the re-piping project cost was so high that not only was there no way to pay for any upgrades, but also the bid cut corners on the re-piping method to meet our budget. For example, it proposed that some of the new plumbing run along the ceiling on the inside of our home, not between the walls, so that there was less destruction and repair of walls to do, and so that a tub/shower surround did not have to be replaced by a new tub and tile surround. That estimate was so disappointing that we decided to seek other bids in case we could at least get the re-piping done between the walls for a reasonable price. We thought about trying to be our own general contractor, by hiring a plumber and a construction repair guy separately and trying to organize their schedules ourselves. Although less expensive, that was too daunting. We wanted a hybrid between a subcontractor and a general contractor – more reasonably priced, still highly skilled, and able to coordinate with one other subcontractor (a plumber) to ensure that the project got done promptly. After combing through dozens of reviews on Angie’s List, and meeting with 3-4 possible options, we found what we wanted in Wonderman. Raoul came to bid the project, and my impression was that he is a strong combination of capable, no nonsense, knowledgeable and articulate. He offered to handle the project either way – as the construction subcontractor (and he would recommend a good plumber), or as the general contractor. He said it would cost more to act as the general contractor, because coordination takes time and time is money. But it was clear that we could save money if we bought any parts and hardware we wanted to have installed (other than the pex pipes that would be provided). His bid to complete the re-piping project as general contractor did not involve any corner-cutting and was substantially less than the other company’s bid. So much so that additional upgrades were affordable, which he was willing and able to do. For the same price the other company was charging to do the job halfway, Wonderman would do the job 100% right and also complete upgrades that would let us SEE some improvement, not just have invisible improvements inbetween the walls. Raoul was willing to restrict work days to the days my husband does not work his graveyard shifts – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday -- so my husband could sleep days he had night shifts He and his workers and subcontractors were on time, clean and respectful. (One minor concern was that no one wore masks, but we never insisted on it, either.) The project lasted from July 14th through August 27th, with a total of 22 work days. Raoul, Gus, or the plumber or tile subcontractor (or a combination) were always reliably at our house between 7:30 – 8:30 AM. They took only a ½ hour lunch, always at noon. They typically left at 3pm, but on some days when they had to stay late to complete something so that the next thing could begin the next day, they stayed up until 6pm. They worked hard the whole time they were there. There were a few notable challenges that they met superbly. One was matching our hand-brocaded ceiling pattern when they repaired holes made to insert new pipes. Gus figured out how to match a pattern that even real estate appraisers in the past had said would be impossible to match. The company we had two years ago (that was so expensive…) couldn’t match it at all. It was like Gus was a “wonderman.” 😊 Another challenge was my request for a pass-through window in a partial wall in the master bathroom, to let the sun through to the vanity area from a real window on the other side of the partial wall. When the drywall was torn off, it was apparent that the partial wall was filled with closely placed studs, pipes, and electrical wiring. It appeared impossible to fit a pass-through in that would allow for any standard sized glass shelves. Raoul figured it out, though, and made it very beautiful. Another challenge was the 3/4” thick glass shower door I bought to have installed. Raoul had to add wood to studs in the wall to ensure it was installed in a way that would not be compromised over time, but he did it with a smile. Another challenge was creating a vent to the roof for a bathroom exhaust fan that had never originally been in the master. It took an extra day to figure out, but they did it very well. While I can’t say that communication was perfect, I can say that it was immensely better than the communication we’ve had with other contractors and subcontractors, both ourselves and on behalf of our parents. I got about 75 – 80% of my email and text questions answered, within 12-24 hours. Raoul was always professional and friendly, and accommodated add-on requests for work up to the very end. We are beyond thrilled with the final results. See the before and after pictures. I recommend Wonderman whole-heartedly. If you are seeking an honest, reasonably priced, skilled person for anything from handyman work to general contracting, I don’t think you can do better than Wonderman. We will absolutely hire him again for all of our future projects.

"Norman's was fantastic. We had gotten estimates from Home Depot and Empire but the Home Depot contractor said there might be sub-floor problems (turned out to be minimal) and would not even agree to come out until we ripped up the old floors ourselves and had any issues dealt with. It was clear they just want the easy jobs. Empire jacked up the estimate then gave us a phoney "discount" (don't fall for their 50/50/50 sale, it is a scam). We looked at their reviews on-line, 70% of which are two stars or less and decide not to go with them. Enter Norman's. The experience in their showroom was excellent. Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable. The business is family owned and the employees are all part of the family too. The process of getting the measurements done was equally good. Tim discussed any potential subfloor issues and said they could take of whatever was encountered. Delivery of the flooring and the install were timely and convenient. The actual install process was wonderful. Larry really knows his stuff and is willing to make the extra effort to give the best outcome possible. He found a small/medium area of sub-floor with damage and replaced it with a new piece, noticed that the old sub-floor squeaked because it had too few nails and used a pneumatic gun to nail down all 1000 square feet of it. He also found some lengthy ridges in the sub floor due to settling of the floor above the garage and sanded them down, 1/4 inch on one ridge and 1/8th on the other to make the floor smooth and level. The laying of the new flooring went beautifully. Tim originally gave an estimate of $15,000 due to uncertainty about what we would find on the sub floor. At the end of the job, the total bill was just a little over $12,000 even with the sanding, nailing and replacement piece mentioned above. After my experiences with Home Depot and Empire, I was very nervous about spending this much much and getting a quality job. Norman's has restored my faith in contractors. I will be calling them to do carpet and vinyl in the rest of the house.

"It went fantastic! Micah Watts, the owner, was an absolute blessing to work with. Just a true professional in every phase of our project. The best way I can describe it is that they were like the Nordstrom of the Flooring and Carpet business to us. There were two other stores we checked out prior to contracting with Micah and from the very first meeting it was clear who we were going to go with. Our remodel turned out amazing and we absolutely love it. You can tell they service some high end clients but they treated us as we were just as important. You can tell this company is very well ran and Micah sets the expectation for his staff by the way he deals with clients. Couldn’t be happier and they definitely superseded our expectations.

"Our project went really well. We split our garage into two spaces, one for living and one for storage. We were pleased to work with this family-run business. We felt confident that they were handling our project with care and integrity. They communicated well about the twists and turns brought on by supply chain issues and permitting requirements. They were honest about the timeline uncertainties due to the pandemic, and they organized the project to keep things moving forward even when supplies were delayed. We appreciated their thoughtfulness about smaller details, great recommendations and advice, and their help navigating various options. The quality of their work is excellent and we are very happy with the finished space! We highly recommend and would definitely hire them again.

"Our 71 year old house had all original single pane windows. We bought it 10 years ago and knew we would eventually need to replace all windows on main floor as well as daylight basement. The 8-10 degree temperature differential from downstairs to upstairs was costing us a lot of money in heating & cooling. We got 3 estimates and interviewed all contractors. We elected to use Henderson & Daughters based on their incredible reviews, the details estimator Ken provided and the fact that they did not want any prepayment until all work was completed, particularly that It took close to 6 months for all windows to be custom made. We are SO SO glad we used them. 25 windows + 1 glass door were replaced including some huge sized fixed windows that required 3 installers to set. The work was done in less than original quoted time even though one of the 2 installers was not too reliable and was a no show after the 1st day. Thanks to Josh K, the lead on this project, who is a genius & a master/expert at replacing these windows, frames & doors, the work was completed ahead of schedule & with incredible attention to details. As an architect, I am amazed as to Josh’s level of expertise and professionalism … at the end of each day everything was impeccably cleaned up (our cats hated the sound of his vacuum cleaner). We still don’t know how he managed to finish this large project all on his own - Thank you Josh, you are absolutely awesome.
