In a ventless dryer, lint it collected in a lint filter found inside the door or dryer drum. Vented dryers have this same lint filter, but in a ventless dryer you’ll need to stay on top of cleaning the lint filter after every wash. Using a leaf blower to clean your dryer vent isn't a good idea. Theoretically, the leaf blower should push the lint and debris toward the exterior vent opening, helping it exit. That's usually not what happens, though.

This prevents air from circulating properly, and the lint may even come into contact with the heating element. It could also be the result of bigger issues like a faulty thermostat or worn-out dryer belt. A burnt rubber smell can even come from elastic waistbands or rubber decals in your clothes. To remedy this, dry clothes on a lower heat setting or allow them to air dry instead.

You should have your dryer vent cleaned by a professional at least once per year. Over time, lint and other debris from your laundry get caught throughout the vent, causing a few different issues. A less severe problem caused by a clogged dryer vent is extended drying time for your clothes, which increases energy costs.
