The chimney was red brick, but Vasiliy suggested a lighter, golden color brick as it was more economical. Since our house is yellow, the golden color looked even better than red brick would have, and I saved money. Side gates give you easier access to your rear yard, making the space more usable. More importantly, they can help keep your children and pets safe in your yard without compromising accessibility. In case that’s not enough upside, installing a fence with gates usually boosts your curb appeal and property value.

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.

Ideally, your gate would swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it's generally best for the gate to swing inward. There are exceptions, however. For example, if your property is on a slope, your gate may not be able to swing in.

Whether you can attach a wood extension to a vinyl gate depends on the gate's construction. Some vinyl gates are sturdy enough to allow wood or vinyl boards to be attached. Many, however, have hollow frames that may not hold screws or heavy extensions securely. For these, consider alternative extension options such as a rubber flap or chicken wire.
