"Hire Ybarra Professional Builders Inc. NOW and ask for David and Jacob. Their whole team and vendors are exceptional at what they do. You will definitely be satisfied and they are AMAZING!!! Their work is outstanding and their level of commitment is commendable. The sub contractors and contractors they use are outstanding too. He will try to get you the most reasonable price point for your project and he has no hidden agenda like other contractors I met. Then Jacob is the hands on, builder person you share your vision of what you want, then he will make it happen. He will say, â letâ s pick out the materials, color, and model and do it.â Both are extremely passionate about the projects they work on and handle it all so well. Their character is beyond my belief: honest, intelligent, helpful, caring, kind, supportive, and always available. Finally, they communicate exceptionally well, and lessen the stress from it all. "Bradley is great to work with - he's personable, professional, and good at his job.  My ground floor deck was destroyed in an ice storm year ago and removed.  Had Bradley and his team rebuild that deck using artificial wood.  The upper floor deck was intact, but in poor shape.  I intended to have them replace only the flooring, but Bradley pointed out several structural deficiencies and convinced me we needed to rebuild the entire deck.  The expense was daunting, but having a reliable structure that is likely to outlast me, and never having to resurface it again makes it worthwhile.  The pump house was just old and falling apart.  Bradley and his crew tore down the old structure and build a new one without any disruption in service.
All of the old material was hauled away, and they did a pretty good job of cleaning up after themselves, though I did have to clear some debris after the un-used materials were picked up by the hardware store.

"I arrived home after being away (since before the recent deluge started) to a wet interior wall. I knew I needed to get someone to come out immediately to find the leak and repair the roof. I called King & King's 24-hour number late at night (I apologize for that, as I got him out of bed) and Dennis of King & King assured me he would get a roofer  out as soon as it was light, even though it was Sunday. He did.
The work  went quickly. Jerry  located the problems (see below), and was done in an hour. Since this was the second repair for the same problem (first repairs by another company), I am thrilled.
The interior wall is already starting to dry off (confirmed Monday morning) and I may have caught it before the dry wall was damaged. I hope so.
The roof was originally put on by Mid-Valley Building in September 2012 and still under warranty when it developed a leak in March 2014. The company has closed, but the bonded owner remained responsible. It took several days for him to get a crew to us and I now realize they did not fix the problem, they just benefited from the fact that it stopped raining. New drywall was finally done in August. This was very well done, but by a different company than the roof repair.
On our own (with my brother, the Industrial Arts [shop] Teacher helping) we replaced the sill board under the wall where the leak had been and replaced damaged shingles. We thought we were done with the water problems on that roof. We weren't.
King & King's roofer found the problems easily. Jerry found several serious errors in the installation of the original roof. The Mid-Valley crew had installed 4 shingles tiles with the nails below the nail line (I have retained these shingles). Mid-valley failed to remove all staples, and at least one had worked through shingles leaving places for water to seep in. They also had failed to trim the starter shingle row down to just above the nail line, which led to cupping on the roof right where there were some of the incorrectly positioned nails. These errors created pathways through the shingles and into the interior. One other issue with the installation did not seem to be contributing to the leak. King & King pointed out that Mid-Valley had used 1&1/2 inch by 1&1/2 inch flashing on the gutter edge, rather than the standard of 1&1/2 inch by 3 inch above gutters. This did not seem to be part of the leak problem to Jerry.
King & King correctly identified the issues and rapidly fixed the problems. Sunday morning's light drizzle did not slow them down. Jerry pulled out the rusty nails and staples on the 4 shingles where the nails were below the nail line. He trimmed the starter shingles where they were now open before recovering the roof. He replaced the 4 damaged shingles and 2 others that had to be remove. And he caulked nail heads under shingles that were not replaced but under which nails had been removed to install the new shingle tiles. He was fast and efficient.
Having competent work done is very important to us. King & King provided the competent work I expect. I plan to put them first on my list to call for any other building jobs in the future. I especially have no problem recommending King & King to others who need emergency roof aid.

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

The steep slope of an A-frame roof withstands high winds, heavy rain, and heavy snowfall, making them popular all over the world. A-frames also offer simple, quick construction. Finally, an A-frame typically has large windows on the non-roof sides to let in a maximum amount of natural light. Consequently, they are often an affordable building solution for the right homeowner and location.

Whether you should choose a flat roof or a sloped roof depends on your particular situation. Flat roofs tend to be less expensive to install. However, sloped roofs have longer lifespans and stand up better to heavy snow and other inclement weather.

Keep in mind that even a flat roof needs to have a slight slope, usually around 1/2 inch for every foot. If it is completely flat, water will pool and cause damage, either from weight or leakage or rot.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

Average barndominiums last between 50 and 150 years depending on the materials they are made from, how well they are maintained, and the environment they are built in. Barndominiums are very durable and have a much longer lifespan than traditional wood homes. With proper care and maintenance, well-built barndominium homes can last generations.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.
