"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Start your home building project by obtaining a geotechnical soil report to design a stable foundation for OK clay soils. Check the current FEMA flood zone maps and review lot grading for proper drainage. Confirm your specific jurisdiction and zoning rules to determine allowable lot coverage. Locate all underground utilities and review plat restrictions to identify easements that dictate where you build.

Helpful?

Functional home building improvements, like structural changes or roof replacements, require permits and carry high urgency due to severe OK weather extremes. Cosmetic updates, such as interior painting or flooring, do not require permits and offer flexible scheduling. Secure HOA approval for exterior cosmetic changes before starting work. Prioritize functional repairs immediately, as skilled trade professionals experience long wait times following major storms.

Helpful?

Before beginning home building work, safely monitor foundation cracks by taking dated photos and measurements over several seasons. Inspect your roof from the ground after severe Owasso hail storms to document visible damage. Research your property’s permit history and age to understand past modifications. Hire licensed professionals for all electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, as state law strictly prohibits DIY approaches for these trades.

Helpful?

To ensure longevity in your home building project, account for Owasso's expansive clay soils by designing foundations for shrink-swell cycles. Address severe storm exposure with proper wind-load construction and storm shelters. Temperature extremes and humidity swings require region-specific framing, roofing, and HVAC systems. Always secure required permits and inspections, and follow all local HOA restrictions to keep your property compliant and structurally sound.

Helpful?

Your home building plans face complications if you have a post-tension slab foundation, which requires specialized engineering to modify. Pre-1980s Owasso properties lack modern wind-load connections like hurricane straps. Open floor plans hide engineered beams that complicate wall removal. Attached garage conversions feature uneven slab elevations and uninsulated walls. Always locate utility easements and septic drain fields to prevent costly damage during excavation.
