"Eric and Smalltown Property Revival are a true blessing. I had multiple projects going, including ac window install, replacing smoke alarms, hauling, furniture moving, linoleum tile removal, chain-link fence replacement, plus rebuilding a deck and lattice work. They then installed French doors that were on back-order and proceeded to construct a cute pallet fence for me out of pallets that were taking up space and collecting debris in my basement! Unlike wood, composite material resists common deck problems such as rotting, fading, warping, and all the other things you don’t want a deck to do. Typically, most residential wooden decks are designed to support approximately 40 pounds per square foot, including the deck’s weight and any items placed on it. While this is fine for typical use, it is usually not enough to hold the weight of a hot tub filled with water and people. To safely support a hot tub, your wood deck will likely require reinforcement. Therefore, it’s best to have a contractor or a structural engineer assess it before hot tub installation.

Deck boards should be spaced no more than three-eighths of an inch apart. This is enough space to allow water and small debris to pass through without collecting on the surface, but not enough to create a tripping hazard. Certain materials, like pressure-treated wood, shrink over time, so they may need less space at installation.
