Dirt work and grading. Driveway and gravel services. Land Clearing and debris removal. I guarantee to give you the best value and always do work that I am proud of. I specialize in property clean up, grading, and hauling off brush and natural debris. I can also help with drainage issues. My primary piece of equipment is a Bobcat T190 on rubber tracks. I also have a grapple, pallet forks, and a dump trailer. I can get a lot done very quickly with this machine and have several years experience operating equipment. I would be happy to come and give you a free quote for your project.

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

If your mulch delivery company or landscaper installs mulch around multiple spots in your yard (especially if they are more complex areas), feel free to tip up to $15 a person. However, there's no need to tip for a standard mulch drop done in your driveway or on a tarp.

If a big freeze catches you by surprise and you don’t have any deicer to hand, you can reduce the chance of taking a tumble by laying gritty, anti-slip materials. Some natural, readily-available options that don’t melt ice but offer traction underfoot include sand, wood shavings, kitty litter, and fireplace ash.

There are two main times of the year to spread mulch—mid-spring and late fall. Spring mulching protects new seedlings as the soil warms up and the rainy season begins. Fall mulching insulates the soil and regulates its temperature as the first frosts arrive.

Pea gravel can retain some heat, but it generally stays cooler than materials like concrete, asphalt, or stone pavers. Lighter-colored pea gravel reflects more sunlight and tends to stay cooler, while darker-colored gravel can absorb heat and become warmer to the touch.

The ideal amount of mulch is the square footage of your desired depth in inches divided by 324. Aim to keep your old and/or new mulch at a depth of no more than three or four inches.
