"I highly recommend this installer! He safely and professionally installed a sensory swing and a new light fixture in my child’s room, taking the time to ensure everything was secure and safety was the top priority. As the parent of an autistic child, having confidence that the sensory swing was installed correctly means so much. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and flexible throughout the project. He even took the time to help fix a door hinge that wasn’t part of the original job, which was greatly appreciated. The attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile made the entire experience exceptional. I was so impressed with the quality of his work that I’ve already hired him for another project. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for reliable, skilled, and safety-conscious service."

More than 25 years experience. We owned Dan Reynolds construction and restoration Inc. I performed all aspects of construction and business. I enjoy remodel design. \nDan designed our home. We built it in 1999 with our own hands and with the help of subcontractors. There is no construction detail that I do not have both experience and knowledge in. My husband retired in 2014 and in 2016 I became a one woman show. I removed walls, gutted kitchens, built cabinets. I repaired anything. There is but I am most proud of my “cabinetic surgery”. I am a huge fan of repairing and upgrading rather than starting over. If you have a repair to any part of your home, I can figure out the solution and perform it. I am generation X. If I somehow cannot help you, I can direct you. I can help you with what should expect and how to protect yourself.\nMy husband passed in 2025. I’m ready to pick my tools back up and help people. No risk in calling me. I like to help good people.

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can reupholster antique furniture, and it’s a great way to extend the life of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come. In fact, since reupholstering furniture is significantly more affordable than replacing it, reviving antique furniture can be a cost-effective way to keep that family heirloom usable for much longer. It’s usually a good idea to leave antique reupholstering to a professional, as they will have the tools and expertise to ensure the piece isn’t damaged and looks professionally finished.

Part of the beauty of academia decor is that most textures and materials will feel right at home, provided they’re dark. Some common textures include natural wood, dark metals like iron, velvet, and leather. Incorporating these into your dark academia decor will make them look right at home. Glass is another option in some cases, so fill in gaps in your decor with small glass jars, or really lean on the gothic roots of dark academia with stained glass.

Paying to reupholster a piece of furniture means you want to hire the right upholstery service, especially for a piece that’s expensive or carries a lot of sentimental value. In your search for the right upholstery company, be sure to:

  • Ask around to see if friends or family know of any upholsterers

  • Find reviews of the company or individual

  • Look at the photo gallery of their work to see if they work on furniture like yours and if you like their work

  • Check qualifications and references

  • Ask the upholstery service if they work on furniture like yours, what their schedule looks like, how they handle payments, and how long the job will take

You can make your dining room look more expensive using one or more of several methods. If you're remodeling, you can consider raising the ceiling height, installing an elegant chandelier, or redoing the floor. For smaller renovations, consider changing the paint color to a deep and rich tone, such as burgundy or emerald. You can also swap out the table and chairs to achieve a richer appearance.

It is often worthwhile to refinish or restore furniture, especially for high-quality, older, antique, or sentimental pieces. Older furniture tends to have better durability than modern, mass-produced items, and refinishing can cost about one-third of the price of replacement. To determine if it's cost-effective, compare quotes from local refinishing services with the price of a new, similar piece. Refinishing can refresh a piece's look and extend its lifespan. However, it may not be worth it for newer furniture made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or plywood, or for items with major structural damage. A professional can help you assess the piece and decide on the best course of action.
