"You should probably add 4-6 weeks to the expected delivery date if you expect to need the "enclosed" hardware. I received the blinds in the estimated time, but it came without the required hardware. I have made 4 calls (at least) over several weeks, but the hardware is nowhere in site. It is clear that SelectBlinds.com is a marketing company only has outsourced all production and fulfillment to third parties and evidently has a difficult time coordinating these type of customer service issue. Extremely frustrating that my blinds have been sitting in the floor for over a month and all I need is a few screws. Happy to go to Home Depot to get the screws, but SelectBlinds can't even tell me what sizes I need."

For exterior doors—like your front door—36 inches wide by 80 inches tall is typical, though you’ll see 30- or 32-inch widths too, especially in older homes. Interior doors vary more. Bedrooms and bathrooms often use 30- to 32-inch widths, and closet doors can be anything from slim singles to wide bi-folds. Height is usually 80 inches across the board; however, always measure your actual opening. “Standard” only works if it matches what’s already in place.

The best material depends on what’s more important to you: Cost? Durability? Looks? Steel cellar doors are tough, water-resistant, and heavy, while fiberglass or composite doors can give you the outdoor aesthetics you crave. Most people favor steel because of its strength against storms, but steel is also one of the more costly options.

A well-installed storm door in good shape can add value to your home. But if it looks shabby or is hanging off its hinges, it could have the opposite effect. In general, the mere existence of a storm door likely won’t fetch you much more on the sale price of your home, but it can improve your home’s curb appeal and help it catch the eye of more potential buyers.

Steel doors last 30 to 100 years, making them among the most durable and longest-lasting doors on the market. However, they will likely get dented and scratched during that time, and if the paint peels, they can show signs of rusting.

In most cases, a pre-hung door is a better option, not only because it’s far easier to install as a DIY project, but also because you’ll get a new frame and a new door at the same time for a more complete upgrade. Replacing a door costs more with pre-hung doors, but the additional investment is usually well worth the money. Pre-hung doors require fewer tools and less experience to install properly. With that being said, a slab door might be better if you’re on a tight budget or have a custom wall opening size that a pre-hung door won’t match.
