"Antonios did exactly what he said he would do. I had to work so I left a portion of my home open to them so they could be comfortable while they were there. I felt like I could trust them, so I did. My first night with it, I put my AC down to 72* instead of 68*. I woke up freezing instead of hot. This was and will be my best purchase I’ve done to increase the value of my home. Thank you Antonios for your help."

"Dusty is awesome. He explained everything to me about insulation and how important it is. Even the cracks in the attic were sealed up. He showed pictures of my attic before and after, the difference was amazing. I only had about 6” of old beat down insulation. Dusty and his team added about 14” and now I know this winter will be a lot warmer in the house. After Hammond insulation was done, my AC system runs less and stays off longer so I know it’s a job well done. Thanks Hammond Insulation"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

If you have bubble wrap lying around the house and you don’t care about the odd look, taping bubble wrap over a window is a very affordable way to insulate it. Another inexpensive option for insulating windows is to add new caulk around the glass. This step quickly cuts down on air drafts for older windows, and a tube of caulk only costs a few dollars. Adding plastic shrink film around the glass is another cost-effective option. You can purchase a kit of plastic film for a few dollars per window.

Yes, you should insulate your copper pipes to help regulate their temperature. Well-insulated copper pipes will be protected from freezing and can conserve energy by keeping hot water warm for longer. Foam rubber insulation tubes are the best pipe insulation to prevent freezing since they fit tightly around the pipes while still maintaining some flexibility.

The best type of insulation for your home depends on your specific needs, climate, and the area you are insulating. For new construction, structural insulated panels are a highly energy-efficient option that is easy to install during the building process. In very warm climates, reflective insulation can be a cost-effective choice. For cold climates, fiberglass is an excellent option due to its high R-value and resistance to settling over time. Spray foam works well in humid environments because of its moisture-resistant properties. For standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation are all suitable options.

R-value stands for resistance value and is a number assigned to insulation that states how good the insulation is at heat transference (insulation). The R-value of injection foam is around 4 which homeowners will be happy to know is actually quite good. Another benefit of injection foam versus fiberglass foam is that the colder it gets, the more injection foam retains its resistance properties, whereas fiberglass tends to lose its efficiency in colder temperatures.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.
