"The ACE repairman was very personable and diligent in his efforts to repair the poor flow into our toilet tank and bowl; however, his installed generic tank mechanism only fixed the flow into the tank. A subsequent plumber installed a Kohler tank mechanism in our Kohler toilet which fixed the water flow into both the tank and the bowl."

"Dan Powers. Mark came out and was very kind and very thorough. He took his time and located the problem. and said that if it was to cause us any more problems, to call, and he would come take another look. We are going to have to replace a toilet on a separate issue, and we will be calling him back to replace it. My wife and I were very, very satisfied and pleased with his work and professionalism. RETURN CUSTOMER, INDEED."

"I had a slab leak and had been without water in the house for 4 days. Was dealing with Integrity in OKC whom was trying to rip me off with repairs that wasn’t needed. Finally made the call to K & P Plumbing. They came out within an hour and worked until it was fixed giving us water for the weekend. Thank you Ken and Jesse for your professionalism, honesty, and reasonable price. Ron Clark Guthrie"

"I had an “emergency” plumbing issue, & the owner of the company (Joe Shaddix) was able to come out on a Sunday evening...getting things fixed (we both think) in a timely fashion! I will use this company in the future for any other plumbing issues we may have! Thank you!!"

"Two of them came out. There was a long list and we were happy to pay more, but I was not pleased when I got home. I wanted the caulking in the shower redone and they did not get to that. There is a gate in a storage thing out in the side yard and the door needed patching. I just did not like coming home. I felt like they rushed and just did not get it all done or even attempted to get it done. The price was not the issue. I just wanted those things done. With two of them here, I felt like they could have done more."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Replacing a toilet typically takes two to four hours. Several factors can impact this timeline, including the condition of the old toilet, flange, flooring, and pipes. If a professional discovers issues like a cracked flange, damaged flooring, leaky pipes, or a broken wax ring, the installation will take longer. Additionally, some toilets, such as wall-mounted or in-wall-tank models, are more complex to install and may require cutting into and repairing drywall, which adds to the project time. Given the weight of toilets and the importance of proper placement, it is often best to hire a professional for the job.

You should choose the type of toilet that meets your budget, fits properly in your space, and matches the rest of your decor. If you’ve never gone toilet shopping before, you might be surprised at how many options are available. Most homeowners choose a two-piece toilet, which is the industry standard, and a gravity flush system is the most common. However, dual-flush and low-flush toilets are becoming more prevalent as more people become conscious of water consumption.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common installation method that can simplify plumbing and save space. However, there are important considerations. The vent and associated plumbing must be large enough to handle the demands of all fixtures without compromising the vent's effectiveness. Additionally, the toilet should always be located downstream of all other fixtures. Because requirements can vary and space might be limited, it is essential to check your local building and plumbing codes and consult with a qualified plumber to ensure the installation is done correctly.
