Customers say: True professional

"We have a large deck that wraps around the back and side of the house. The entire deck needed re-staining and had some wood that was rotted. Richard and his team did an EXCELLENT and FAST job for us. They went beyond expectations. They were on-time every day and gave us a fabulous looking deck. We would certainly hire Richard and his team again for future projects! Thank you! Did I mention that they were ON TIME everyday!!"

"We hired Advanced Painter Pros on 4/5/20 to paint the exterior of our home. They quoted $2,500 and the finished job cost was exactly that, no hidden charges. They showed up on time, cleaned up when they were done and completed the entire job to our liking in just 2 days. We are very happy. They used qualify products and were meticulous about their work. Will absolutely use them again in the future. A++++ Painting Contractor."

"Amigos did a wonderful job painting the entire main floor of our new home. They paid extra attention to detail and even came back out after we had the wood floors refinished to touch up anything that our floor guys messed up. We really appreciated the extra time and attention they paid to our project to make sure everything was perfect t and just the way we wanted it. They were reasonably priced, friendly and hard working. I highly recommend!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.

Yes, it is important to wash your deck before painting to ensure the paint applies well and adheres properly. While you don't have to use a pressure washer, it is one of the most efficient cleaning methods. Pressure washing can quickly remove dirt, wood fibers, and flaked paint, getting deeper into the wood than manual scrubbing. You can also clean the deck with a stiff broom and a cleaning solution. Regardless of the method, a clean surface is essential for good paint adhesion. Make sure the deck is completely dry before applying any paint.
